Have you used the latest drivers for your soundcard?

About the word “category”: I’m thinking that perhaps “tag” is a better (and shorter) word for it. The word “tag” is commonly used as a descriptor for all sorts of objects. For example in the NI Kore preset browser, or as search words for video, audio and picture files.
What do you prefer: Category or Tag?
“Tag” IMO.

I think it’s a bug but i can’t really reproduce it. When you want to pan your sounds in the mixer, some meters don’t show the panning; both sides (left and right) show activity, when only one side should. You can still hear the panning being done, but the visuals don’t show it.
Mind that this goes for only some tracks, that’s why it’s so weird. I have two guitar tracks with exactly the same plugins and settings on it and one shows the panning and one doesn’t.
You most likely have the meter position set to a track that’s further down the chain than the track the pan automation is on. Try checking where it’s set at in the mixer right-click menu (meter submenu) or enable the fader/meter grid from the mixer options menu.
Edit: Oh, or if you mean just the pan slider (no automation), then you probably have the meter set to a different position than the fader in one of the tracks’ effect chain!
I figured it out. It turned out that the panning-slider was in a different place in the effect-rack. Something you can’t see in the mixer, only in the rack-slot. In the mixer, the panning-slider is always on the bottom, but in the effect-rack you can really see its place in the effect-chain. Don’t know if you can call that a bug.

Hi all,
Does anyone like the idea of an “Automate VST Parameter” option direct from the editor(s)?
Might be tricky but seems useful to me rather than having to navigate to the parameter through a menu with a different layout.
Yes, sounds good!
Funny thing is that Fritz never really reacted to the idea. I guess he doesn’t like it very much .

I have another question. Is there a way to copy a track with just the effect rack and not the audio-events on it?
Another method that does not involve track templates:
Select the track you want to copy. Select “Track/Clipboard/Copy Track” (Ctrl+C). Select the destination track. Select “Track/Clipboard/Replace Effect Chain” (Ctrl+Shift+V).
Great, thanks!
I love this update. I can’t take my eyes of it anymore 😆 . All i now need is the the possibility to apply an effect to a specific part of an audiofile and i would be 100% happy.

Yes! While dragging the event to another track, hold shift to lock its position on the timeline.
Thanks! I read that in the manual but performed it wrongly. I held shift first and then began dragging. But you have to click to drag first and then hold the shift-button.

Slice up the file, put the bits on different tracks and effect away.
I’m having a hard time moving these bits to another track. When i drag and drop the moved slice mostly is a bit out of time. Is there a clever way to move the slice?
I may be wrong but i can’t record automation of the level, send and pan parameters of the track itself in beta 15. Automation of plugin-parameters works fine. Haven ‘t tried beta 16 yet.
EDIT: Disregard. I found out that only the sliders in the mixer can be automated. No biggie, works fine for me.
I’m not a programmer at all but i got this idea:
When you slice up an audiotrack, the slices automatically get numbers. So if you have four slices the slices are numbered 1 to 4.
When you right click an effect on the track, you get the option “assign effect to slice (dropdownmenu with options “all”, 1, 2, 3, 4)”.
The effect affects the whole file/track as default and when assigned to a specific slice, it only affects that slice.
Does that sound like a good idea?
Ok, thanks. Is this a feature that could make it into future-releases?
Just wanted to say that, as a “normal” user i am in awe of the great suggestions made in this topic. Way out of my league but great and above all constructive! =D>
