Starting to feel a little pushy now… Wouldn’t be surprised if I’m the only one who replies to this. 😉

Okay, don’t take it the wrong way, but as opposed to donating to makers of free (GPL etc.) stuff, I don’t think you should feel obliged giving donations to a commercial project, especially if you’re a student and have small or no income (yet). As much as I like the product… Sorry!
Instead, I’d much rather continue trying my best to help users on the forums, making suggestions and commenting on development, reporting the odd bug, or maybe doing tutorial videos and such.

If that’s not good enough, well, I’ll have to walk with the shame. Or is it blame? 😉

But so far, Frits hasn’t asked for additional monetary support. I guess more of us wouldn’t hesitate much to scrape together something if Zynewave were to be on the verge of going under, though I can’t imagine how even a few hundred dollars a month could sustain any lifestyle in a western european country.

I was thoroughly impressed with Twin 2 ever since it came out. The same goes for Zebra, really, but I didn’t need any of them, since I don’t make much purely electronic music nowadays. Instead, I had planned on getting Timeless at some point.
At this low a price for both, however, I wouldn’t have dared to say no.

Twin’ll probably be called into action for pretty much everything now, as replacement for the good ol’ Synth1. Wow, what a step up that is – with all of Twin’s modulation possibilities. 😯
Timeless is fabulous as expected, and Volcano – which I wasn’t particularly interested in – turned out to be quite a gem as well. Side-chaining is actually fun. 🙂

And the icing on the cake, they’re much, much lighter on CPU than I expected. Did I mention I also love their GUIs…? Happiness is a warm (hot!) plug-in bundle. 😛

I can’t use ASIO as I would need to record Podium’s output through the Stereo Mix ‘input’ of the on-board soundcard. It’s the most common way to record what’s playing on your computer internally, or so I’ve gathered.
I’m pretty sure this input is unavailable with ASIO drivers, but I’ll see what google has to say.

Edit: To clarify, my problem isn’t the high latency but rather the very slowly updating track meters, which seems to be a problem in Podium with using MME drivers and large buffer sizes. Like I said, meters in Live, for example, update normally with the same settings. Can anyone confirm this?

Heh, if you hadn’t posted it already, I would’ve done this time around! 🙂
This one I couldn’t pass up… having fun with them in Podium right now! :D/

    Editor:
Go to View menu -> Editor Profile Properties -> select Embedded editor and delete it.

    Mixer:
If it’s taller you want, just drag the titlebar (where it says Mixer) upwards. To give it specific settings, go to the Mixer Region Properties from the mixer menu and fill in the height/width fields under layout.

I’ll have to let someone else explain side-chaining.

You know… the sidechain compressors usually have two audio input and one audio output. The sidechain input usually is muted (in some compressors this could be optional), so you would only hear the carrier with its volume envelope modified 🙂

    Argh… Side…chain…input! #-o
I really shouldn’t post when I’m not thinking straight, which is most of the time. Good morning! 😆

Aww, poor Frits… have yourself a cookie or two, now that it’s over! 🙂
The problem with Synth1 is gone, so thank you, and great work as always!

If I understand correctly, this would be specifically a plug-in to use on a track.
So from your first picture, wouldn’t you get the combined output of Nucleum, Sylenth1 and an audio input on this one track? Why would you want that?

In the same way with picture two, the actual Track 2 would still be playing normally whilst also feeding into the zRoute chain on another track – so you’d get the raw signal plus the side-chained one!?
Otherwise you’d have to completely redirect a track’s output/input whenever they’re loaded inside this plug-in. I think it’d start to become very confusing then, if the track was sitting there quietly while its output is actually inside a plug-in on some other track! 😕

In any case, personally, I can’t see Podium turning into energy XT 3, and I’m glad. Not saying it couldn’t be good, though. 😉 … Actually, looking at my crystal ball… yep, it’s right there in Podium 6.42! Just you wait and see! 😛

    Glad you like it! 🙂
There may not be as many users here as on the Reaper boards, but we’re glad to help if need be.

Maybe I misunderstood since I never used reaper, but if it’s as simple as I think, it can very much be done in Podium:

Just start from the Setup menu -> Editor Profiles -> Piano Roll -> Properties -> Insert new -> Toolbar -> look for Transport toolbar, insert it and customize to your liking!

I’ve had a copy of Linux Mint lying around here for almost two months, waiting to be installed. I liked what the Live CD showed, and I figured I’d give it a chance as a dual-boot option… I never did, up until now, as there’s really no incentive for me! 😕

Windows always worked perfectly fine for me, I don’t have a personal problem with Microsoft, and most of the nice GNU/open-source/otherwise free software is available for my OS also.

What would be a good reason for me to to use Linux, even just as another option?

Also, whenever I think of Linux, “All completely free software” comes to mind. Isn’t that one of the reasons people like it – to be rid of the clutches of ‘blood-suckers’ like Microsoft or Adobe? I really don’t know, of course, but I wouldn’t be so sure there’d even be a big enough market for commercial products.

I wouldn’t know anything about that. Just that it happens regardless if they’re processing something or not, and it’s the same in other hosts. I still like them, though. 😉

Hm, same here with the Fish Fillets.
When you start grabbing a knob in one of them, the Podium UI freezes, as it does when you move a plug-in window around or a standard Windows menu opens up inside a plug-in. Don’t know if that’s normal behaviour – in any case, it never bothered me. With the Fish Fillets, CPU use goes up drastically also.

The screen shift, however, I only get when the task manager’s open.
No such problems with other plug-ins.

    One more:
Font anti-aliasing for the time/beat counter on the transport bar has become pretty bad compared to 2.17 and before, at least on my system.

Another little thing, though not related to this particular release:
MIDI patterns drag-n-dropped from Addictive Drums (the only plug-in I have to test this) are created in Podium only up to the end of the last note.
That means they’re almost always an 8th or 16th short, so I have to extend them by hand in order to duplicate them easily.

I tried with energy XT 2 and Ableton Live Lite 7, where it works fine. So I guess it’s probably something on Podium’s side.

Hmm… it won’t let me change anything in normal mode (Vista 32-bit).
For the time being, I got my settings back by running Podium as administrator and then setting it up. However, this way Synth1 is now forced to use specific settings in Podium, whereas they should normally apply globally to all hosts it’s loaded into (not a problem for me).
