Ok thcilnnahoj, you started it 🙂
..I’d like to see a feature similiar to the “Fold” button in Live. basically with the click of a button, the only note lanes shown are the ones with notes already in them.
…It would be nice if the editor maintained its current visual state from the last time it was opened.
…Not a must have but definitely a sweet feature that I liked when I used FL Studio’s demo was the ability to place chords in via the piano roll (there’s quite a bit of empty space there on the left dieing for some additional functions 🙂 ).
…if the above is possible, it would be a nice touch if it were possible to restrict the notes available by key signature. ie…Cmaj or Cmin. Once again not a must have just something not all that common but very useful when not working with a midi controller.
…drag and drop of midi clips in to the editor (if not already available). As well as the ability to save.
…having the ability to adjust the velocity while holding the mouse down on the selected note is something that I really liked in Guru (however it should compliment, not replace the velocity screen to the south)
I’m not expecting any of this to actually make it in there. I just wanted to point what I think are workflow improvements for me 🙂
And let me add one more thing…
I think a lot of us doing most of our work “ITB” spread the workload across different apps to take advantage of the better workflow that you get in one versus the other. In Podium having the ability to drag/drop midi data into the timeline took care of one hurdle for me. Improvements in the rendering and multi-take lanes took care of another. the mixer improvements were a very nice addition as well as the smaller track headers. And even though I love the session view in Live during the creation process I gotta say that with the upcoming improvements in midi data flowing from a one vst to another and the changes to the piano roll, it may be possible for me to ditch most of the other apps. And to me that’s pretty exciting news.
Nice to see some dev time spent on the piano roll. Tell me, are you looking for ideas in this part as well or are you just tidying up the interface a bit?

Looking forward to midi plugin support.
Me too since I’m hoping this will allow us to send midi from plugin-to-plugin (in some fashion).

Thanks!
However I would suggest a more flexible process though that allows a user to choose the tracks they want to move to a new group. The suggestion you put forward works if all the tracks underneath the selected track are the tracks you want in the group. But it is not so good if any one of the tracks below a selected track are not supposed to be moved.
Being able to pre select more than one track then using a Move to Group track command for instance would be much better.
Amen brother 🙂
I’ll second that emotion, Happy New Year to everyone!

Let me introduce myself: my name is John, and im a KVR regular under the same nickname.
Welcome aboard! You’ll find quite a few KVR folk around.
I can’t help you directly with the logic involved other than to say that Podium is its own beast for sure. I too have eXT and I can tell you that there is not a lot of similiarities other than they both expose a linear (read: none pattern based) workflow. Take a look at the tutorials in the Wiki. Even though a lot has changed it still remains a good starting point.
IMO, Podium’s strengths are in that perceived complexity that newcomers encounter. I’ll just comment on one area: VST’s
There is a tremendous amount of flexibility in importing vst’s/vsti’s. Podium allows me to setup different projects that will show only the devices that I want to see. During your first setup you will probably choose to scan your vst folder. But that is not the only way of gathering those files. You can make a project and then decide later which to import. This is the option I use for all my projects. For instance, if I’m doing voice-over work, podcast stuff or spoken word projects, I just don’t need all of my instruments filling up the window. Now if I switch to a restoration project I’ll have a totally different list of tools that I want to see. In addition the projects can be saved as templates as well making the setup for other projects down the road a lot easier. There’s even more if you dig a little deeper but I don’t want this post to drag on forever.
Lastly I’ll say that I think Podium is very cpu friendly. Moreso than most hosts. However, don’t rely on the cpu indicator in Podium to give you the whole picture. If I remember correctly Frits didn’t design it to mimic the data you get from the task manager. Take a look at this post http://www.zynewave.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1539&highlight=cpu for more info. I’ll let Frits comment on whether things may have changed since then.
More later 🙂

More than 100 buyers already, it should easily reach the 300 until end of this month for the max. discount.
Spread the word and make it cheaper sooner.
Yeah, I’ll probably jump in after payday. Not that I really need though, heaven knows I have too many synths already (if there is such a thing). But getting it this cheap is a little too good to pass up 🙂
Thanks for the heads up. I’ll check it after X-mas and if it’s 100 or less I’ll jump onboard.
I’m sure that this is something Frits will tackle in the future. I expect it to gain a little more popularity once he institutes some mechanism to allow midi to travel from one plugin to another.
I really likethe changes he’s made so far and I’m not gonna push him on this one cause he’s coding like a madman right now and I just appreciate his efforts. 🙂
Frits, I am away from my setup for a few days. Probably won’t be able to test it out until mid-week. I’ll report back as soon as I get home and try the new functionality.
I’m looking forward to this one 🙂

But – it’d be nice to have an easier method for bouncing to mono – maybe an entry in the bounce menu.
Are there any DAWs out there that let you check your mix in mono?
Just asking cause even though you might be asking this for a totally different reason I think a mono-switch on the individual tracks or on the master track buss would be awesome.
