ZynewaveKeymasterIt requires a small addition in the code to listen to the horizontal wheel movement. But I need to get one of those mice before I can reliably implement this. What brand/model is yours? Is the sideway tilt an on/off scroll, or does the scroll speed adjust to the degree of tilt?
ZynewaveKeymasterI followed your instructions, and I get the same thing. It’s a bug, and I’ll fix it for the next 1.83 release.
If you save the project after doing the sound file search, and then reopen the project, the sound files should be displayed ok.
ZynewaveKeymasterThanks for helping with the questions Conquistador.
I think the main problem as expressed in this topic, is that of the visual presentation in the mixer. The hierarchic engine is a very flexible construction. I frequently see user requests in the Tracktion, eXT and Reaper forums, where users are requesting possibilities of organizing tracks into folders, folders in folders, folder freeze, etc. All this is possible in Podium. It is a matter of tuning the Podium UI so that it allows simpler manipulation of the track organization. Over the last couple of days I’ve had some exciting ideas on how to improve the mixer. It has moved to the top of my priority list.
ZynewaveKeymasterwhat about a simple function like ctrl+g like in the sequencer view. Where everything is hidden below the track you press ctrl+g on
I may decide to extend the “hide tracks in group” track option to the mixer as well. Normally though it is the bottom track in a chain that you want to see in the mixer, rather than the parent group tracks.
I wonder….would it not be possible to add a slider to the mixer when dragging it up (embedded) so that one could scroll up to see more of it, without needing to drag it too far up the screen?
Yes.
ZynewaveKeymasterI don’t see midi loop recording in the planned updates list…This is an eventual plan is it not?
Yes. I’ve added it to the plan.
ZynewaveKeymasterI have two midi containers in the same track. How can I join these two cotainers, to make it one big container?
Select both events, right-click, “Merge”.
ZynewaveKeymasterwhen you use the “I” tool to select a certain region, that there could be a button next to the loop playback button, or a right click option, or a hotkey, or all of the above, that would make the selected region into the left and right marker settings
I think I can implement that using the Alt+L shortcut. Currently that shortcut will set the loop range to the markers surrounding the play cursor. I can extend the functionality so that if there are any selected segment or selected events, the loop range wil be set to surround those instead.
what about the ability to drag an entire selected region to somewhere else in the song.
You can do that already, not by dragging, but by using key shortcuts. If you have divided your song into sections using marker events, it’s very easy to shuffle around the sections: Use the Q+W keys to move the play cursor from marker to marker. Press J to select the segment between two markers. Press Ctrl+X or Ctrl+C to cut or copy the section to the clipboard. Press Q+W to move to another marker. Press Ctrl+V to insert the clipboard segment.
ZynewaveKeymasterwhat about below the timeline on the active or inactive tracks
Clicking there starts a marquee event selection.
ZynewaveKeymasterIf you have a click in the transition between two sound events, you should set up a short fade-out and fade-in to get rid of the click.
ZynewaveKeymasterClicking with the mouse on an empty spot of the tracks timeline area will start a marquee selection. The mouse is reserved for this and various other actions depending on the selected tool.
ZynewaveKeymasterThere are several ways to do this. The easiest method is to select the sound event, and then press the insert key for each copy you want to append.
ZynewaveKeymasterhave you considered making this set up more conventional?
The new mixer layout I’m going to experiment with will provide a better overview of sends/returns.
if i have three seperate tracks on the send/return how can i adjust the send/return levels for my reverb on each track seperately?
The tracks that have a bus send mapping assigned will each have a “send” dial. This controls the gain of the “wet” signal going into the bus. The gain dial on the send tracks will control the “dry” signal going upwards in the hierarchy. On the track where you assign the bus return mapping you can then further adjust the output of the bus with the gain dial.
ZynewaveKeymasterThe fact that “enable audio mixing” isn’t enabled by default bothers me as well.
I have already changed this behaviour so that the new track by default is mix enabled. It was an oversight.
ZynewaveKeymasterSo in effect “stacked chains” are a vertical representation of the hide track lane feature but in the mixer?
Yes. Although the hidden tracks are not just shown as a thin bar, but with plugin mapping and gain/send dials accessible, like in the inspector group panel.
ZynewaveKeymasterThe “stacked chain” by the sounds of it could also appear on tracks.
It’s already there in the form of the “hide track lane” feature. The rightmost track in the chain will be shown in the mixer with fader/meter. The hidden group tracks are shown as boxes above, without meters, but with gain/send/pan dials if enabled. Much like the group panel in the inspector.
