I noticed that the changes in the Tempo Event Properties window are not applied until the “OK” button is pressed. I thought it might be nice to hear the changes as the values are being edited.
Ah, ok. I’ll add it to the plan. Maybe a checkbox in the dialog saying ‘preview tempo change’.
Either this, or be able to select multiple presets and edit a common parameter for all of them, in this case, bank controller values.
That could be a neat solution. The dialog would be similar to the dialog for a single preset object, but when opened for a multiple selection, the name field would be disabled and show ‘multiple selection’. Changing any properties would then be applied to all objects.
Is there a way to do this so that multiple mappings to the same VST plug will share the same preset library?
Yes. Just make sure that your duplicate mappings all refer to the same device definition object. If you import the same plugin multiple times in Podium, then only the mappings will be created for the new instances and the original device definition branch (with presets and parameters) will be reused.
Hi Brian,
MIDI IN/OUT monitor shows MIDI message types and values
What are you referring to as MIDI monitor?
Changes to tempo can be heard in realtime
If you change tempo events during playback, the playback tempo changes. What do you mean with realtime?
Realtime nondestructive quantize on MIDI tracks
Realtime nondestructive transpose on MIDI tracks
Sounds like a job for a simple MIDI plugin. Support for MIDI plugins is on the plan.
Count-In for playback/recording
On the plan.
Event list can be made to show only events for individual tracks/event types
Event list can be edited similar to text file
The event list could do with some improvements. I haven’t touched it for a long time. I’ll add it to the plan.
Zoom keeps current position centered
I assume you mean when using the zoombar sliders at the lower right of the editor windows? When I want to zoom in on a particular point, I use the zoom tool shortcuts (Shift+Ctrl+Alt combinations), click at the point I want to lock on the screen, and drag.
.POD files may be expanded in list window to display objects
That will not be an easy thing to implement. There are many links between the objects in a project, so the whole project file needs to be loaded to be able to safely extract individual objects. If you want to extract objects from a project and insert it in another project, I recommend you load the project, copy your desired objects to the clipboard, load your new project, and paste.
“Create Multiple…” wizard under “New” drop down menu
What scenarios would you want to create multiple objects for in one go? Copy/paste can get you far.
Aliases may be created for device maps
What do you mean with ‘alias’? Why would you like to create aliases for mapping objects?
New Device Mapping Type : MIDI/WAV Preview Source
Interesting idea. If I were to implement this, I actually think I would prefer to make it as a VST plugin. Perhaps there are even some loop/beat plugins already available that can do this sort of thing. The plugin editor would have embedded file browsing, and the possibility to drag files onto the host. Storing the plugin preset on the track in Podium, would then retain file path information etc. Anyone else care to comment?
Thanks for your suggestions,
Frits
Years ago I actually had the track headers colored, but it didn’t work out well in combination with the track selection highlighting etc. I have since changed the design of the track headers so it may be possible to apply the coloring without causing confusion. I would make it available as an option in the profile properties, because I think many users will prefer the clean appearance of the headers. I’ll add it to the plan.
Hi Brian, and welcome 🙂
You assume correct. Podium currently does not provide a generic plugin editor for plugins without GUI. It’s on the plan, but I’ll put a higher priority on it. You can still control the parameters of the plugins by setting up parameter automation tracks.
Frits
I checked your profile, and you apparently had entered the date you joined in the field where you specify the format for how you want the dates to appear on your browser. I have changed your profile and reset this date field to the default setting.
The dates should appear correctly for you now 🙂
Popping up a warning dialog on every track deletion would probably be a nuisance to a lot of users. Especially if you want to erase a series of tracks. As you said, using undo in the few cases where you delete tracks by accident, is in my opinion to be preferred over showing confirmation dialogs for each delete.
Ok great, I’ll put it on hold until MicroDicer is publicly announced.
Currently dragging MIDI files onto tracks is only supported when done from the Podium file browser in the List window. I’ve been meaning to support file drag&drop from external programs, when the need was there. Which plugin in particular do you have in mind? (hopefully one that can be downloaded as a demo-version)
They expose all their vst parameters to the host, so it should be enough that the host supports remote controllers, right?
Right. That will be possible when I implement dedicated support for remote controllers.
And what about parameter automation?
Well, I guess it can sort of be done, although a dedicated support for remote control will make it a lot easier. If a plugin supports MIDI controllers, and if the remote controller has been set up with a template for these parameters, then you can control your plugins if you create an input mapping for the BCR2000 and assign it to the track with the plugin. Controlling native VST parameters is not possible currently.
Yeah, I’ve also been wanting one of those for a while, although I would personally go for the one with faders and knobs 8)
There is currently no support for remote controlling the Podium mixer, but it is on the plan.
Does it olny work with the buttons on the lefthand side on the editor now?
Yes. The control key is now used to snap to the default value for the parameter controlling the curve.
