Hi zorikar,
You’re absolutely right. I can see by my webstats how the visitor count has boomed every time Podium is mentioned on kvr. However I don’t mind taking it slow here in the beginning. If I get a large number of users from day one, I risk being flooded with emails concerning the same problems or shortcomings of Podium. Also I need to get the videos done so a greater number of first-time visitors hopefully will be tempted to try out Podium.
Anyway, when 1.00 is released I will send a note to Ben at kvr.

Just a short note to say that I took your advice and have just uploaded a new home page. The videos are now included on the home page. The home page now also contains a short sales pitch and I even threw in words like ‘unique’ and ‘innovative’ 😉
I hope you think this was an improvement.
Is this just during startup, or are you saying that you cannot change the sample rate in Podium?
The default sample rate set in the interfaces dialog is the sample rate that Podium will initialize the soundcard with during startup. Whenever you activate monitoring of an arrangement that uses a different samplerate, then the soundcard will be reinitialized with this.
At least to me and those of us who come from the “simpler” sequencers like Cubase and Cakewalk
That comment made me go 😯 and then 😆
Thanks for your encouragement, I’ll carry on then 😉
Thanks for your feedback Dan,
Your front page is a little bland (functional yes) but bland
I agree. When I originally started the design of this site, I intended the home page to contain a list of the latest news. I since integrated this forum software and I have grown very fond of how it allows me to communicate with users. This has also become my preferred place to post news etc.
So I need to spice up the main page. Being a new company with a new product I cannot post pictures of awards and articles where famous people rave over how great Podium is.
I was thinking of dropping the two column format and moving the online videos from the presentation page to the home page alongside the screen shots. Also adding price info and direct link to download and purchase.
I will try to improve it for the 1.00 release.
I welcome any suggestions you may have.
‘The hierarchic engine’ video is up. I will press on with the remaining videos during the weekend, but I must admit that this is tiresome work. Can’t wait to get back to programming again.
Let me know if I’m still on the yellow brick road here.
Great feedback suges, I have learned a lot from your post.
I went on my own to see how the objects are configured by the wizard. I tried creating my own MIDI ins and outs from scratch. Perhaps this is a good time to let you know, I had no idea all this time what a MAP or MAPPING was. It took me hours to figure out that it was basically an OUT hahaha. I had set up all my MIDI ports wrong, clicking the “route ins to outs” checkbox assuming it would create a MIDI thru situation for me.
I was hoping that the majority of users would never have to configure the mappings manually. What was it that you needed to customize? Maybe I can solve this by adding some further options to the wizard.
I had created folders, but I could drag the objects into the folders.
In the browser you can hold down the control key to drop any objects you’re dragging into folders (unless you have switched off auto arrange mode).
That’s when I realized what the list browser was for. Did you know you can’t select multiple objects and drag them all into a folder in the list window?
Yes, I know 😳 It’s on the plan.
I’ll go back to work on some more videos now. Keep the comments comming 🙂
I’ve read the guide–wouldn’t you say it’s more like a features overview than a manual?
The top level in the guide are meant to work as a feature overview and when you go further down in the guide menus the descriptions get more detailed. If you take some of the detailed guide pages, like this, I would find it hard to write a more detailed explanation. Is it the layout or style of writing that needs to be improved?
Thanks for the quick start suggestions. I have just uploaded the second video (studio setup) to the presentation page. I would appreciate if you could take a look at that and let me know if this is useful to you?

I’m starting to get a grip on this video production thing. The first video (parameter automation) is uploaded on the Presentation page.
I intend to make the other videos in the same style and approx. at the same length. Before I get too far with the other videos, I would appreciate any input you have on this first video. Should each video be shorter/longer? Is the pace in the video too slow/fast? Should there be more text notes?
Any suggestions for tasks/workflow that you would like to see in a video?
when using FLstudio as a VSTi, projects will not re open the next time. The screen just stays blank except for the wizard
Alright, found the bug. It seems that FL Studio VSTi requires that the host application has an open window, and if not then FL forces the host window to be shown. Not something I would expect from a plugin 😕 and as a result the Podium screen is blank because Podiums normal window open routine is bypassed.
To solve it Podium will now open its main window before auto-loading the last used project. Fix will be available in 0.98.
1) Library presets don’t retain the new names that I give them
This has been reported to me earlier, so I’ll make sure it is fixed for the next release.
2) Try as I might, for several releases now, I can’t record MIDI from my keyboard
So I am assuming that you can use your keyboard to play the softsynths on the tracks you want to record? The tracks that you want to record to should be record armed (the ‘R’ button). When the record button in the playbar is enabled then the part of the tracks that accept recording is painted with red background. Maybe you need to adjust the punch in/out range?
If all this appears to be OK, then it is possible that the MIDI driver for your keyboard is providing wrong timestamps. To make Podium ignore the time stamps, select the ‘Ignore time stamps from driver’ in the MIDI interface setup dialog.
3) when using FLstudio as a VSTi…
I’ve just downloaded the latest fruit demo, and I can confirm this bug. I will look into it.
Hi suges,
I am glad you haven’t given up hope. I am just about to upload the latest beta with the last remaining essential feature implemented. This coming week I will then work on the presentation videos. I consider these a must before I am going to announce a version 1.00 release.
There is absolutely no documentation for the program
I know the documentation bit is lacking. I intended the online guide to be the manual. Have you read the guide? What areas did you find lacking (apart from the unfinished pages)?
Also, why is ReWire support not planned?
Simply because I haven’t had time to examine the format. If there are many users that want this feature, I will of course look into it.
Yes, there will be pop-up text notes describing the actions in the video.
After examining most of the screen recorder applications on the market, I ended up purchasing ViewletCam by Qarbon for 100US$. It has just the feature set that I need and a very clean interface. I have found several bugs in it, but it was a lot cheaper than the >300$ alternatives.

Also I notice some cosmetic “problem” that the playcurser is cleaning away the tempo markers; when he goes over them they are swept away >> when you press stop they are reappering again. Sometimes podium does it but I can not trace in which exact circumstances it happens.
I tried, but I can’t get this to happen. Next time you experience this, take a screenshot and mail it to me.
