It would be realy nice if keyboard shortcuts can be customizable (like in Cubase/Nuendo or Sonar).

And you could add Reaper, Tracktion, Samplitude or Audition too.
    I cannot say better…

Apart from personal preferences and habits, I am sure that this is one of the major features than could help people to be more familiarized with Podium and help them to switch from other DAWs, or at least to use them together with more efficiency.
It is of course natural that Frits proposes the ones he likes, but it is also necessary that users can set them as they like… 😉

It should be possible to make Podium import surround plugins properly, but I’m waiting for Steinberg to release the VST3 spec before looking into this.

Oh, it is not a problem for me since you have added the “new multichannel insert mapping” option.

But perhaps that Podium could automatically add it together with the other mappings when importing the VST, or (but I now that you don’t like to have too many options), as I have suggested some time ago, having two options when importing : “multiple stereo mappings” or “multichannel mapping” ?

    Hi,

    1. you can right-click on the WizooVerb folder in the Devices list and choose “New multichannel Insert Mapping” and use it on the track.
This makes a 5.1 inputs / outputs mapping.
If your master track is stereo it will use only the first two inputs / outputs (select stereo downmix in the plugin options).

    2. you can active the inputs of the Out 1+2 mapping (for example) : right click on WizzoVerbW5 (#1) Out 1+2, open the Properties and in “Mixer output (plugin input)” choose Stereo (2 channels). Let the First channel on 1.
The reason because it is not activated by default is that (if I don’t mistake) the multichannel mappings are made for instruments and not for audio plugins, so the inputs are separated from the outputs.
    Frits, is this that ?

The two solutions use the same amount of CPU.

If a sound file is placed on the track it is still being streamed from disk

Already discussed, but I really hope that you will add an option in the Preferences to change that in the future.
I prefer A LOT to save disk access when the track is muted and have a little delay when I unmute it instead of the contrary.
    Thanks.

so that if you unmute the track then playback of the sound can start immediately.

Reminder : the volume bug is always here. If the track has a volume automation envelope it is ignored when you unmute the track and the sound is played at 100 % level, so we need to stop and restart playback.
Also applicable for Pan and Sends.

Using the mouse wheel over the timeline region will zoom in/out centered at the position where the mouse cursor is placed. Placing the mouse to the left of the timeline will zoom centered at the timeline start.

    Well done Frits !
    Thanks.

I have now implemented extended support for mouse wheel. Using the wheel over the timeline region will zoom in/out. Using the wheel over sliders will scroll the slider. This means you can scroll the horizontal timeline slider without having to hold the shift key. The wheel also works over the zoom sliders in the editors. Coming up in release 1.82.

What a very good news !
    Thanks a lot !

Just a thought – wouldn’t it be a time saver and very convienient addition to allow a scroll wheel mouse to expand/contract (horizontaly) the editors by placing it over a timebar/line – seems like a missed opportunity, and a time saver.

    + 1000 !
(and / or an option to zoom horizontally with the wheel without any key… old repetitive request…)

Concerning the quality of time-stretching algos, it seems that there is a free Dirac LE version available.
    See this thread :
    http://www.cockos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6272&highlight=diracle

Perhaps that it can be another option for non realtime rendering ?

If you mean the time-stretch that is going to be integrated in Podium, then yes. Up to the full 32 channels, with all channels phase-locked.

    Wonderful !!!

I also plan to extend both zPEQ and zPitch to be multi-channel capable, but for that I’m waiting for Steinberg to release the VST3 spec.

Exciting news… It will be hard to wait 😉

Will the pitch and the time-stretching work also with multichannel files in future versions ?

    Frits,

I find it not so bad.
Considering that pitch shift introduces more artifacts than only timestretching, I am waiting to try the feature on events !

Actually it is not really possible to compare the quality of timestretching with other hosts since it is a pitch shift plugin. But it compares rather well with other pitch shift plugins.
So I consider that we will soon have timestretching and speed on events PLUS a nice pitch shifting plugin. Nice…

    Good work !

I’m just not sure why Frits decided on the right to left flow. I can’t see any logical reason for that over a left to right direction.

… look at the Windows Explorer tree view ?

Only allowing resizing to the left when no phantom copies exist would make it easier. I’ll keep it in mind.

    Yes, thanks.
It is really a lack for automation events.

    Hmmm…

The best for everybody (?) : custom keys and mouse shortcuts !!! 😛

(of course, it is nice to be able to choose every color for the GUI, but personnaly I would have prefer before to be able to choose how I use my keyboard and my mouse !…)
