CoreDuo or Core2Duo doesn’t make a big difference…
A 1,8 GHz CoreDuo is already faster that a 3 GHz Pentium D !
Minis are very nice boxes and OS X is clean for beginners. You will have also all the Apple’s iLife softwares bundled with it.
They have no interest for me, but it will certainly be useful for your mother 🙂
There were a rumor for the update, and a lower price, before the Mac World last month, but the only news were the iPhone and other Pods… 🙁
Logically, the Core2 versions might be already here…
I have used a MacPro with students last week and have made demos with some audio softwares in WindowsXP, including Podium, with no problem.
Don’t forget that Apple computer ARE now PC, with just the difference that Steve Jobs actually doesn’t give us the authorization to install OS X on computers from other manufacturers…
I have an old MacMini G4 and I am waiting for Apple to update them to Core2Duo to change it.
Well, it will be wonderful !
Thanks a lot !
In-place editing of curve sequences on parameter tracks
This would be a another great option to have along side the embedded option currently available.
This post is very old and was written before Frits has implemented the embeded editor.
I think now that I prefer it to an in-place editing, even if this feature will be of course nice to have too.
On the other hand, I always miss a lot edge snapping. 🙁
(I must have create a new thread for it…)
What’s that green I/O thing in the toolbar?
The picture is from Reaper : you can select which output of the sound card is used for monitoring. It would be (for me) an extremely useful option in Podium.
I’ve had a similar idea for a transport toolbar in the list panel. The gain slider would be a gain dial though
I like the dials too 😉
I need to take a break from implementing these small features, or else I will never get to work on the next major feature, namely SRC/time-stretch.
Of course, I agree fully !
Indeed.
And perhaps (later) a volume (and transport / option) control at the top of the List window ?
Perhaps it would be a solution if Ctrl-click would de-select individual events from a bundle, instead of the whole bundle. It would then be possible just to press Ctrl-N to create a new bundle without the de-selected events.
I think that it is how it works actually, no ?
+ 1
like the fades and level values ?
How would you want it simpler?
For example, to remove one clip from a group : I could only have to right click it and select “remove”, or even select it and press the corresponding key command.
With the workaround that you describe, I have to select the group, right click and choose “unbundle” (or the key command), then Ctrl-click the clip I want to ungroup and re-apply the key command, with the danger to accidentally click somewhere and deselect the clips that were part of the group and having to re-select each of them. I know by experience that this scenario can happend in the action !
So I will of course live with the current option, but, if you whish at some point to add one more option do “remove from group”, I suppose that some people (like me) will appreciate. Less steps to do something is always a good point. 😉
Select the bundle. Unbundle (Ctrl+N). Ctrl+click to deselect the events you don’t want in the bundle. Bundle again (Ctrl+N).
Of course…
Nothing simpler ?
It is a rather tricky solution 🙁

Snap option to snap events to start/stop of other events
and cursor position…
Hi,
with the availability of crossfades, it becomes to be more and more missing…
I think acousmod has suggested this some time ago.
Yeaahh !
Lock and unlock seems to me all that is needed. If you have too many permutations why bother with locking at all.
For me, the position lock is just what I need too.
More options are usefull but can wait later.
Hi,
I was away these last weeks : split at cursor, grouping, the new features are really wonderfull !
If you continue like this, I will have nothing more to ask 🙁
Concerning what you have called “bundles”, in all audio / graphic / video softwares it is called Group (Samplitude, Cubase, Vegas, Live, Reaper…). Don’t you think that it can cause some trouble to introduce a new term for a well known feature ?
Whatever, it is great to have it !
There is only one option that is missing : the possibility to select one or several clips that are part of a group and remove them from it (“Remove from Group” in Vegas or Reaper).
Something that become more and more urgent, for me, is the need of custom keyboard (and mouse) shortcuts.
For example, the possibility to split, group, mute, lock events with the single key I want instead of the key combination you have set would make a huge difference for me.
And according to what I see around me, the possibility to have the same key commands from one DAW to another could make people easier to use Podium…
Yes, so an option in the preferences to turn off this automatic subfolders creations, like in older versions, will be appreciable…
After a days work: The waveform shown on sound events are now scaled according to the event gain and fade in/out time settings. Available in release 1.76.
Nice !
The two obvious choices would be “Linear” and “Equal power”. Linear is -6dB and equal power is -3dB at the middle of the fade-in/out. What other curve defaults would you find useful?
The obvious curves are for me :
– linear
– exponential, like when the second value of the custome curve is 100 %
– logarithmic, when the first value is 100 % (= equal power ?)
– S curve, when they are both 50 %
An example :
the popup that appears when you right click on a fade in Vegas (there is also the inverse S-Curve) :
and when you right click on a crossfade (combinations of the five previous ones) :
