Well well well. ๐
You certainly can still pull a surprise or two out of the Zynewave goodie bag thats for sure ๐ :D/
Although I still have some issues with the x86 version (RMX related) I can still test the x64 Podium version for you. Thanks for getting the x64 ball rolling.
Actually I could even test the x64 version of RMX with this new version of Podium…hmmmmm could be interesting. :-k
By the way I am using a Nvidia GTX 275 896MB GDDR3 so it cannot be an underpowered rig on my part. That card should be far beyond any possible Audio and Midi host or plugin graphics requirements (putting it mildly) and for some time into the future as well. ๐
Thanks for the changes in 2.17.
Sadly, I am going through a difficult period with Podium at this point. Not much time to focus on any new features as RMX appears to be bringing Podium down with alarming regularity.
It’s the screen shifting left followed by a crash that is limiting my time with Podium ATM in a big way ๐
I am currently shuffling emails between myself and Spectrasonics who I must say even though they may know little of Podium are being very thorough about trying to find a solution. I am impressed.

I assume you do not have a copy of RMX and as there is no demo, there is no way for you to check this yourself… I will update you (probably in another thread) if a solution becomes available.
The problem shows up if I hold a parameter for more than 5 seconds which I think at some point you said will bring up Windows Not responding message or something along those lines.
Even minimizing Podiums GUI (So that the standard border appears) does very little to avoid the shift followed by a crash. I had this same problem with a few other plugins so it’s not just RMX. Older plugs can be tricky but RMX really should not be.
I also noticed that the Ableton Live *splash screen* (not the app) will shift left when it loads up but it is *barely* visible.
The screen shift in Podium however, is easily visible. Maybe because both apps replace Windows borders they share the same problem.
In any case, I have never seen any plugins cause Live to shift it’s GUI to the left of the screen.
This looks like a problem with Apps that replace Windows borders with their own and maybe much more so RMX and other plugs coded the same way graphically as RMX. Just guessing.
There is a wider issue with other hosts as well with RMX…something is clearly not right. Thankfully Spectrasonics are looking into it. If there was a RMX demo I am sure you would be able to look into it in more detail as well. :-k
Broken down very nicely Frits.
While there are always different user preferences, suggestions and future improvements for any app…the explanation you gave really highlights how flexible Podium can be. Slick.

Some of the features I have worked on the last months have pushed this a bit back. Would you say support for MIDI plugins is more important than time-stretching?
IMO while Midi VST fx would be a nice addition, Time stretching (at least IMO) is far more important. ๐
I think most users expect Time stretching to be present in some form in even lesser priced hosts. Midi FX however are not so much of an expected feature or requested feature compared to timestretching based on what I have read in different forums.
Both are nice features but IMO timestretching is much more important at this time.

Browsing different menus just slow’s down ur working. ๐
That’s my general idea +1
It could be better. I definitely think Tracktions approach IMO is the best. Everything pretty much takes place below the arranger. The group panel is similar but Tracktions take on accessing various aspects of ones arrangement FX e.t.c is the easiest I have seen so far in any host. Something like that in Podium (especially since Tracktion appears to be history now) would be great.
I agree, the mixer’s GUI needs a little of work (and colour as sequencer tracks)
Yes. I like the idea you posted, about colours in the mixer.
– In piano roll, i would have just one and one wish! I dont want to change those pencil and select tool again and again, it takes too much time!
This is the best thing that could happens to Podium piano roll, see this topic: http://www.zynewave.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1863
An improvement would be nice. Anything to save time.
– And the last one, but the most wanted! Give us EASY SIDECHAIN!!! Same like in ableton? Its so damn easy. Just couple click and voilรก!
I’m agree also…
Yes. While the sidechain tutorials defintely help IMO, if the sidechain process can be even easier I am am definitely interested.

I’m back ๐
Welcome back! :D/
It is nice when some of lifes challenges end earlier than we expect. ๐

Maybe the “select all” command should only select events that are currently visible on the tracks? Meaning hidden bounce events and events in collapsed group tracks should not be selected.
I personally would welcome it. If they are hidden I would not want them in a selection. But I would want some sort of control in terms of changing that behavior, an option here would work best IMO.
I would think the default should be the current behaviour but do allow for an option to change this please.
Thanks.

You know, in some ways it might be GOOD to get as real as you can, to the point of virtual reality, and then have themed games, so that people might be able to get the thrill of illicit activities, and subsequently trying not to get caught, and power gaming etc. (as seen in many murders, rape, and so forth), in their game. And not in real life. There is debate over whether this would help fuel and encourage people to do it, or give them gratification without harming anyone, but it would certainly be interesting to get involved in a brutal homicide city where you can kill who you want with no real life consequences for any party on any side. I don’t know, but some people who would otherwise let their frustrations out brutally in real life…
Sadly there are many quite brutal games out there already 18 rated (some have faced bans even) and it does not appear to make any difference to crime rate if anything it probably adds to it. At the end of the day gaming or not IMO people will do what they want to do. ๐

Man about 18-20 years ago I was buying everything like a big kid with just that thought in mind. I had the Turbo Grafix 16, Neo-Geo, Jaguar, everything Sega and everything Nintendo. Heck, I still had the hand-held Mattel football game from when I was little (and yeah I had the Gambino as well). When I got the Playstation I sold or gave away all of it.
Lol! The Neo Geo and the Jaguar! Man that was some time ago. ๐
When I bought the Xbox I had for a couple of days playing the Golf and Gotham Racing. I gave the Playstation to a friend who’s boyfriend left and stole the Xmas cash leaving her with two small boys and no money for rent or presents. I gave the two boys my system and about 35 games. And never looked back.
Great gesture. Really nice of you. =D>
p.s. I just remembered… When the first Mike Ditka football came out on Sega (I think) me and my arch rival in video games put down the battle axes for a day. Mike D. football was the first to allow two people to play on the same side (with full play calling and pretty decent control over the players) and we played a whole season switching the QB position every half. Oh, and we did it in 24 hours playing straight thru with about 4 pizzas and a case of rootbeer. Man I got give that guy a call…
Ok back on topic ๐
Heh…I have definitely had my fair share of late night gaming. One too many I would say ๐
I am more into Soccer games here, Fifa/ Fifa Manager (based across the pond in the UK). Having said that I am surprised you did not mention the John Madden Series of games as they are very well known even over here and seem to be extremely popular. Not to your liking? ๐

Just keep in mind that Atari, Nintendo & Sega were once the kings. Gamers show no love/loyalty if a company slips up. MS better get it right.
Too true. I remember the stronghold Sega and Nintendo had and then this unknown games machine from Sony came along from nowhere and you know the rest. ๐
It is probably harder to stay on top in the games industry than getting there in the first place. Gamers really simply want the best whatever the brand.
Not bad, Duncan. Seems like a very good suggestion. “Inno” is 100% free as well it appears. Even for commercial use which is a surprise.
Also unless I am missing something the small print seems harmless as well.

Well, the title says it all. Now, you have to rename the bounced track separately in the project-folder or else it is overwritten.
Do you mean renaming an audio file on a bounced track? Not the track itself?
Also, why is the bounced(rendered) track saved after you close the project? Why can’t it be saved under a self-chosen name while working on the project? Or am i missing something?
Right click on the event and choose Sound Event Properties. Type in a new name, does that help? :-k
Yeah…I agree Microsoft are definitely looking for a different type of gamer here. ๐
The type of games available for the Wii can be quite different from those found on the xbox 360. I think the Natal platform though offers up so many possibilities that casual, hardcore and maybe even those not really into games at all will give serious consideration to Microsofts new baby.
Over time I can only imagine how diverse games for this sort of platform will be. 8)
