    hi Sam
I too have been a bit dismayed by some of the changes to a UI i was very comfortable with.
I’ve been trying to get to like compact mode (too much horizontal confusion which can blur the distinction between tracks) with the possibility of losing expanded mode at some time.

I always seem to have empty space within the inspector so why does it need more screen? but if you open zReverb for example you can maybe see where Frits is coming from.

    hi Reject
I get the same problem here with EZplayer, found Jamstix easy to crash and finally settled on NUsoftingDK drums.
we may have different issues as my pc is about 4 years old and I figured that may be part of the problem as also Albino in its latest version works poorly,Filterscpe causes loads of graphics issues etc etc

    hi Frits
I loose the last element of the toolbar when the inspector is open, but I should probably use the money saved by not paying for Cubase updates and buy a bigger monitor, then it would not be an issue.

    Hi Frits,
I would just say I am currently very happy with the workings of expanded mode and it gives a very clean and uncluttered UI for my projects, with many tracks hidden and the inspector open. I only brought up my issue with the inpector dials as it seemed relevant at this time.

    Hi Frits
obviously I get the signal flow approach, in this case mda piano-zPEQ-Send2-Send1
but if you look at the mda Piano group track lane in expanded mode the gain and pan dials would be read below the title”mda Piano”,opposite to the way in the inspector. Sorry but i was just trying to illustrate this with my previous post.

    headers.
it just seems easier to”read” in the order it is displayed in the track

    hi Frits,
is there a reason why the gain and pan dials are shown above the track names in the inspector ?,I always seem to associate them with the the track title above, ie in your screenshot at a glance I would wrongly assume the gain applied to the zPEQ and not mda Piano. Also they are upside down compared to the view in expanded mode.

ps, the tip about rearranging the inputs list worked a treat.

    hi Frits,
currently I have all the elements i need in one toolbar (its a very tight squeeze) as this also maximises the vertical space on my screen,If the inspector extended to below the toolbar taking just the empty space on the left of the timeline ruler etc. it would not be so bad, but I think my opinion may be in a minority on this subject.

    Hi Frits ,
thanks for all your effort with 195.
I am very happy with the the inspector as is ( i do miss the full colour from 194).
will this change obscure some of the toolbar when the inspector is open ?. I use expanded mode with the inspector open mostly. In your screenshot, to me the information in the compact track header is conveyed just as well by the inspector and even better if I was to reduce the track hight to fit more lanes on screen.

    Hi Frits
i’ve tried the latest beta with older projects and can find no problems.

one point,in compact mode,to speed up selecting the input source would it be possible to have a couple of user definable slots (either audio or midi) under inputs.
currently recording bass and guitar I am frequently assigning a particular audio input to various tracks, I have to right click, scroll input, scroll to audio, scroll to analog input 4, then left click to select.
It would be good to make this a faster operation if the particular input could be listed in the first menu.
    thanks, mart.

just to colour all the track header as an alternative to the narrow strip. i have not had problems reading text with my full colours and for me it gives a better distinction between the different groups

    thanks.

    Hi Frits,

is there a chance you could make the colouring of track headers and the spacing between groups an option ?

how about opening “list”, then right click devices in the project column (drag the vertical space bar right if only the folders menu is visible)then select new object; new device mapping; it should open the device mapping properties box.
