    The cursor is moving too fast when I record and I can’t keep up with it so I want to zoom out but how??

    The simplest way to zoom out to all events in your arrangement is to double-click the navigator. You might need to include the navigator as a region in your editor profile (consult the manual for further info on this). Mousewheel actions over the navigator will zoom in/out.
    Disable ‘follow song’ with the play cursor to prevent autoscrolling. This will keep a static view in the editor. I think you’ll find it under the ‘View’ menu.

    Alternatively, navigation controls can be accessed via keyboard shortcuts, directly over the arrangement.
    Shift+Alt+click-drag: Activates the hand tool allowing you to scroll in any direction.
    Ctr+Shift+click-drag: Vertical zoom.
    Ctr+Alt+click-drag: Horizontal zoom.

    The rug gets pulled from under your feet…

    A thread hijacked to commend LiquidProj3ct’s preset design for CableGuys – Curve (especially ‘Hypnotic Arp’). Can’t wait to use it in a track.

    Please disregard this post if I have mistaken the author’s identity.

    Do you have a marker in the timeline at 5:59?
    Master renders go beyond ‘clips’ (those boxes you put notes in) if there are timeline markers.
    I usually make one called “End” and render bounces to that point.

    Here are a couple of vids on YouTube:

    MIDI file elements

    Are you using a MIDI file containing only one instrument’s note sequence? These should be added to tracks within a configured arrangement.

    More users will respond if this doesn’t answer your query 😉

    Here’s a quicker way of ‘collecting used samples‘ to the project directory:
    Navigate to the Project Start Page. Right-Click the arrangement object you want to collate samples for and select ‘New Arrangement as Unique Copy…‘. Save the project and the samples will be localised.
    Voila!

    That’s the attitude!! I mean, hearing some of your remixes on YouTube, it’s evident you’re making good music.

    When you move a fader and set it back to the original value in one action (not by right-click cancelling), it still creates an undo point, which is kind of a waste…?

    I like this behaviour.
    I can ‘enter current value’ at the edit position. Then, as any edit, have the option to undo.
    Thank-you thcilnnahoj for being observant. 😀

    About shortcircuit, I use it and really like it but I didn’t know it can timestretch.

    My bad 😳 Automating pitch stretches/truncates the playback time. Unfortunately you can’t alter these independently.

    Commercial alternatives include SliceX, Alchemy or Directwave.

    Never say never, Podium will undoubtedly develop more audio editing/mangling functions in the future. [-o<

    Is there a setting I missed to collect all audio files used in a project in the project’s folder?

    No, currently that function doesn’t exist in Podium. I would like this implemented as it would be easier to share sample-heavy projects between users and workstations.

    Here is a little info on sample management

    This is the ‘Project Start Page’ (please note the object highlighted in the ‘Contents – Arrangements, Sounds’ panel and it’s parent object – an arrangement called ‘pLINTH’). The object refers to an audio sample used in the arrangement and can be located anywhere on disk.

    Double-click it and you’ll open the audio editor.

    From the ‘File menu’ select ‘Save Sound As’ or ‘Export to Sound File’ and save the audio to your project folder (better still, create a subdirectory with the Arrangement name).

    The object in the Contents panel will then link to your saved file. The bottom of the panel will display the object info.

    Click the button I’ve circled….

    …and you get the ‘Sound Properties’ dialogue.

    This panel would be a good place for those ‘Save Sound As’ and ‘Export to Sound File’ commands too.

    Please note that all bounced or recorded audio will be saved to a location reflecting the ‘project’>‘arrangement’>‘sound file.wav’ hierarchy.

    I know that Podium does not currently offer timestretching. What VST or external program do people use when they need that functionality?

    There are many granular synth/samplers. My favourite (and free) of these is Shortcircuit. I strongly recommend using v1.1.2 over 2v0.5.1.
    With this VST you can time-stretch, pitch-shift, beat-slice, modulate filters…etc. etc.

    I hope this helps. 🙂

    Very tasty looking UI 😀

    …noticed something about the sliders though.

    With the setting ‘Slider with value on knob’, the value isn’t centred (vertically) on the button.

    The tool button icons look great, as does the midi indicator, browser and window min/max/close buttons.

    Ciao for Now.

    Hello Infinitoar,

    @Infinitoar wrote:

    Have support for enabling the use of the keyboard as a MIDI keyboard.**Freeware version**[like most DAW’s, no offense but even LMMS has it]

    The developer has been given this request. Personally I think this would compromise the workflow, given that there are many functions tied to keyboard shortcuts. I’d get frustrated accidentally editing in the wrong mode. When working without a MIDI keyboard, however, I do pine for this.

    @Infinitoar wrote:

    …rendering and final mixdown or exporting…where it does NOT include the “popping” sound…

    I’ve noticed these artefacts and can’t work out why. The CPU meter doesn’t indicate an overload. It happens during playback of this Project I wrote on my system, though renders clean. I thought it related to my patch design or audio card latency setting – ’till I read your post.

    @Infinitoar wrote:

    -Export to MP3 option. With of course more options such as Bitrate and others**Paid version only**

    +1
    The developer has this on his ‘To Do’ list so will inevitably be implemented.
    The extra step of loading audio editing software to convert wav to mp3 is cumbersome. I prefer the mp3 format when sharing my tracks online or listening to them on a portable device.

    A built in timed auto “backup” save, just in case the program crashes, when reopened it will tell you that it crashed and do you wish to restore from the “backup” that was saved.

    There have been a couple of occasions I’ve corrupted a project file during a crash. Note that opening a project without enabling the power button (option in preferences) is a good way to troubleshoot. Think of it like booting up Windows in ‘Safe Mode’.

    @Infinitoar wrote:

    …auto-update option…

    The developer has considered FTP through Podium and cites complexity as a hindrance.
    Currently you can log in and click on ‘Watch this topic’ in this forum to be sent an email when an update becomes available.

    BTW have you visited KVR? It’s a great portal for vst resources.

    Thank you for writing an honest and thorough appraisal of Podium. 🙂

    Hello fellow Podium user,

    This little PROJECT of mine is something I made using Zynewave’s software and plugins. Simply unzip the contents and run the .pod file. Included are 2 images I think suits the project and a Nucleum bank I plan to expand.

    You’re welcome to edit, perform or discard these files.

    Always open to feedback, sweet or sour. 😉
