Also, will there be color options to let us know which bounce ability would initiate when clicking the button?
So in other words I’m asking whether the 4 options in the menu are necessary. How about the ability to set the options in a track menu (Render/Playback) and then seeing the feedback in the background color state (for example: a red vs yellow). The click of the “B” button would yield one result or the other. The Boldface “B” would indicate the track was in a bounced state or not. Of course clicking a Boldfaced “B” would remove the render/freeze.
Of course I may be over simplifying things…
I really like where you are headed with this.
Question 1:
Let’s say I have set the track for “Bounce Playback” allowing the VSTi to unload and lighten the load on the cpu. And then a little later I decide that I want to keep this bounced audio “as-is”. Would I need to go back and “Bounce Render” or would I be able to copy the bounced audio (currently in a Bounced Playback state) out to another track?
Thanks druid, I guess I should have searched a bit more before I posted. 😳
Once again, another nice update Frits. Can’t wait to see what else might roll out before Xmas.
I think it looks good as well. Most users start noodling around a bit after they get a little comfortable in an app. They’ll find a look that fits, I’m sure. In the meanwhile this default looks more than acceptable and remains useful and unique.
Good job Frits.

The new beta5 has options for selecting “readout sliders” (similar to those found in the mixer) for both the inspector group panel and the track headers. I’m considering using these in the default setup, so I would appreciate your opinion on the new readout sliders.
**Disclaimer: This is not a feature that I think I will use**
Now with that said, I do think the readout on the slider in round & square mode, is a little hard to read. I much prefer the readout to the right but if the option is there for users to see the readout on the slider it should [somehow?] be a little larger making it easier to read.
Now my concern is that the sliders would appear larger than they are right now if the text needs to be bigger. And I am a fan of the size of the sliders now. And I should add that I DO LIKE the readout on the sliders as well as the colored line [that extends below the slider] in the mixer section.
And I too would like to know what everyone else thinks about the readout on the sliders in the track-headers.

In Beta3 – The new sliders are nice but they end up taking up 2 lines in the mixer channel. So after a few FX tracks are added my mixer ends really squished. And I can’t get the rounded faders back into the mixer channels (see below).
In the new beta4 there are separate combobox settings for gain/pan/send in the mixer region properties. That should allow for all possible combinations of dials/sliders. Let me know if you still find something that you can’t configure the way you prefer.
Since I know you didn’t have to do this for us(me) let me say, Thanks.
I had no problems setting things up and it is just how I wanted it 😀
Forgot to mention, SC2 is the theme Shortcircuit2, based on the sampler (even though I think this part you already knew). And the variation in colors in the automation lanes can be had by adjusting the the parameter graduation settings in the color editor.
aMUSEd, there is a color setup available called NightFall that’s in the default install, I think. If its not in the default install then its available in the theme downloads on this site. I started modifying two themes so far, NightFall and the SC2 theme(download). I also added a wallpaper background as I think it breaks it up a bit without being distracting. A little easier on the eyes for me.

It is quite possible that I am being a bit picky here but… Below is a screen shot of Beta2. Its pretty much what works for me. I like the rounded faders in the mixer area. I don’t mind that the dials in the mixer for the sends are not idential to the sliders in the tracks for the sends. In my mind this works. I like the clean and easy to read track headers. I like that the mixer area is uncluttered as well. I like the readouts in the mixer area on the rounded faders/buttons. To me the pic below got me the closest to what I would prefer. The new Beta3 does not let me achieve this from what I have seen.
Currently I think “Glass Round” selected in preferences looks best in the mixer in the Beta2. (And I can’t figure out the difference between “Glass Round” and “Glass Round Values”, but that’s neither here nor there at the moment.)
However, I have to agree with Frits, example 1 looks better than the rest. It cleaner and easier on the eyes to me.
As of right now, in Beta2 with Glass Round selected the sends have dials in the mixer section. And when the value is changed the word “Send” dissapears and the value of the send is displayed. As long as that was the continued behavior when adjusting the sliders for the sends I could live with it.
However, my suggestion(if you go with the first example), is to just put the value of the slider directly to the right of the word “Send”. And again there could be a couple problems here. One is that I am not sure much is gained if the value is right next to the word versus displaying the value on the slider itself. The second is that instead of the send taking up 1 line of space on the mixer channel it will now take up 2 spaecs (Line 1 for the word “Send” and possibly the value and line 2 for the actual slider).
And with all that said I still like the “Look” of the first example Frits posted. The question is how to get it to work seamlessly with the rest of the UI.

Sliders look : perhaps it lacks some contrast ? Anyway, I prefer the dials
I like the new sliders but I agree that they may blend in a little too well. Maybe. Either way if given the option I would rather work with the sliders and have all of the numerical readouts line up as they do now.
With that said, please keep in mind that I am a data guy by day spending most of my time in spreadsheets and databases. I like it when things are aligned neatly into rows and columns 🙂 But I can also understand why others prefer the readout on the sliding button.

A little bug report:
I tried double-clicking the gain and pan controls to open the track properties
so I can input a value directly. It doesn’t work, however. After the double-click, I have to click anywhere in the tracks region or any track to get the track properties to appear.
Tested and confirmed as well.
