Hi Dustyny1,
Thanks for your feedback. I’m glad you can see some potential in Podium. Many of your suggestions are already included in the Future Development topic. I’ll add some of your other suggestions to the plan a little later.
Also I dont understand why soft synths are bounced in real time
Offline bouncing is on the plan.
Why have two seperate tools for select and move, its a waste of time and space
The move tool also selects. The select tool is only used if you want to avoid accidentally moving around tracks/events when you navigate the interface. If you don’t like the select tool, just remove it in the Profile properties.
Maybe I am missing this, but I MUST BE ABLE TO PREVIEW AND IMPORT A WAV
Currently you drag wav files into Podium, open an object list (Ctrl+L) and drag the sound objects onto tracks. Wave file preview and direct wave file drag onto tracks are planned.

I made changes to the ASIO init startup procedure in beta 0.99, to make it work with e.g. the Tascam FW1884. Hmm, making ASIO work for all possible driver quirks sometimes feels like cooking some old witch’s brew, forget one ingredient and the whole thing explodes.
The 1.00 interface report has been extended since your 0.95 beta. Could you create a new report and send it to me? Even though there are no error messages on startup, the report may still contain error codes from the ASIO functions.
A few comments to some of your suggestions:
-Volume faders for tracks:
Given the hierarchic nature of the engine, there probably will need to be a vertical navigation in addition to the traditional horizontal paging of faders as known on other hosts. You could assign one fader to always be the master, but then allow to step up and down in the hierarchy so that when navigating up, your faders will control the level of all group tracks. A step ‘down’ command would then take the currently selected group and assign subtracks in this group to the faders. There are probably many more solutions to how the hierarchic navigation could be done. There also could be several fader modes. One mode where the faders control the ‘gain’ setting on audio enabled tracks, another mode where they control level automation tracks, and other modes where the faders can be used to control any MIDI, plugin or audio parameter assigned to tracks.
– Navigation arrows
I assume you mean there should be some prefixed keys for navigating the tracks and thus assigning faders to tracks. Maybe there should also be a regular navigation control, where you could e.g. navigate between the lists of presets, and navigating sequence events and opening editors etc.

The first official release of Podium.
The ‘Recording’ video is uploaded. This is the last video in this round. At a later time I may create more videos depending on user requests. I think I have most of the bases covered with these 5 videos.
The 1.00 release is pushed a couple of days, and so is the preorder offer. Don’t forget to take advantage of the preorder offer if you intend to join the ride!
As I wrote to suges in a PM; If anyone got problems with their ASIO driver, go to the report page in the MIDI/Audio interfaces dialog and create a new report. I’ve added further error checks in this release.
would that be HiMiE?
You got the general idea, but it was on purpose that I wrote Himie. Gives it a kind of human touch. I’m not that fond of fancy technical word abbreviations.
If you don’t want to go the route of an abbreviation, how about using the word “nested”?
As suges indicated earlier in this topic, the word ‘nested’ does not appeal to everyone. But I got no problems if people would like to refer to tracks as being ‘nested’.
Google HMx and you get 104000 hits. So much for the trademark. Somehow it also gave me the association of BMX bikes.
I would rather use a nickname that can be pronounced without spelling out the letters. How about ‘Himie’? 😉
The ‘External hardware’ video is now uploaded.
Hi,
from what I’ve experienced so far I think the total opposite! Stick to your vision, Frits… I’m sure this sequencer is gonna be great.
Thanks 8)
I only have one question so far – is it impossible to create send tracks (or “FX channels” as in Cubase)? If so, is this going to be implemented in version 1.0?
The traditional Aux/Bus/Send mechanism is not yet implemented. It is on the plan, but it won’t be ready the first month or two. When it is available it will be a free upgrade. To some extent you can use group tracks to e.g. send multiple tracks into one reverb, but it won’t allow setting an individual wet/dry for each track. Another option is to use some of the available send plugins, like Tobybears MixBox. Duncan has used it and wrote a little about it here.

Can anyone recommend another word for hierarchic? 😉
I am having difficulties myself with pronouncing hierarchic and I got to be careful every time I type it.
How about I just put a link to your post onto the front page 😉
I know what you’re saying, but I am a little wary of boasting too much here in the beginning. There still are some essential features missing that ‘professional’ users could not do without. With time I intend to advertise a little more agressively.
