As a natural extension of the new merge project feature, I’m now experimenting with creating a new track template system that is file-based. The benefit will be that the track templates can be used across all your projects. Saving a track template will then no longer create a template arrangement in the project, but instead save the track in a .pod file in a new “Track Templates” folder in the library. The paths to the project template and track template folders will be settable in the preferences.

What do you think. Would you mind that the old track template system is removed in favor of a new file-based template system?

This sounds awesome! Couple of questions tho…

Would I be right in assuming that the new Templates function would be available from the right-click menu on the actual track?

Groups, tracks and effect tracks can be turned into templates?

Custom patches (not saved to instument or .fxb) would be retained?

    and,

Big YES for still being able to save events/clips as well.

Also great additions for this release (I must have said that many times now 🙂 since 1.77).

    Hi Jan-erik,

Glad you found it. Don’t sweat the esoundz points …it wasn’t about that 🙂

It seems that SampleTank is quite configureable with the ability to assign midi cc numbers to most functions inlcuding program changes. I agree though that the browsing of all the new presets is a bit of a chore.

Section 4.2 of the manual “Managing sound organisation” has a way to use midi cc numbers to allow you to browse the presets from your midi contoller.

Additionally I have found quite a few video demos and Tip and Trick stuff on the IK site that is probably worth a look IMO (Done by Squids too 😆 ).

Have not yet found a single reference to keyboard shortcuts so you maybe out of luck there….

    Hope this helps.

    NucTrak – http://www.box.net/shared/4ten3juasg

This track was made with Podium and Nucleum (ver0.25 and ver0.26).

Everything is Nucleum …with the exception of the kick drum and hats for which I used ephonic and Tessla SE (and for which I didn’t spend much time on 😉 ).

I’m an old glitch-er from way back so my intention with this short piece was to push Nucleum out-there a little rather than, for example, just try and recreate a Rhodes 57 keyboard for example.

Like Rix above, no compressors limiters or mastering tools were used. I did however make extensive use of Podium’s Eq, Reverb and parameter automation, as well as Nucleum’s Midi control.

    Anyway, have a listen…

Rinxai that is fantastic 😯 😀

Designed all the patches too no doubt. Seems like you got the drums in order as well 🙂

Now, honestly who has a demo like that!? One could be mistaken for thinking they were on the Native Instruments demo page.

Sooooo …what now is Nucleum? 100 or so people signed up to get it, little to moderate intrest on KVR and largely if not unanimously ‘shunned’ by the Pods (yep ….got mah contraversy hat on 😛 ).

…this seems crazy when you think about how well Frits has done with it 😕

Are soft synths just too hard?

eg.CM Masterclass: Take a sample out of Kontact, put a bit of compression on it …and give it a bit of eq,

Take another sample out of Kontact, put a bit of compression on it …and give it a bit of eq,

Anyway, as you can guess, I love it, (it’s now in everything I do), as surely Rixnai does too.

Well done man …really nice work 😀

Thx man, very nice of you.

Yeah it was quite a fun ride. The crew at esoundz are battling their way through the process of making 4.5-5GB of sounds downloadable to 440+ people! 😆

I think this has been a bit of a learning curve for them. 😉

I’m assuming you’ve got the three volumes that have been made available? Great IMO.

Also as a tip, you can get the downloads much faster with this:

    Or something like it.

    Thx again.

    Hi Frits,

Just wondering if that is Nucleum done? I’m pretty sure I saw something about SM 1.1 being released now and the guide looks like a case of first time perfect.

I also wanted to just add that I have been having a ball lately running two Nuclei in a group (playing the same or very similar parts) with additional tube, eq, filters etc. on the group track.

    Top fun ….huge sounds. 8)

One other thing I wanted to raise was, given that it’s such a good SM implentation, are you planning to offer it to the SM Examples site? And, is there any use in sticking the made with SynthMaker logo on it?

I know they have their FL deal but this was part adventure, part promotion right?

Anyway, if Nucleum is done for the time-being, thanks yet again Frits for another wicked update. 😀

    Well …that’s pretty near perfect!

The CPU optimisation tips and Midi CC guide top things off nicely. My only comment would be to perhaps have the links to external content open in a new window.

There are alot of links on those pages and navigating back can be a hastle.

The guide itself is excellent! 😀

    Hi Frits,

Actually, it was the ‘File’ button on the Nucleum UI. The menu did not appear because Podium exited immediately.

Please note that Nucleum GUI had been open for quite some time (over an hour) and I had made hundreds of parameter changes as well as plenty of skipping through presets.

Luckily I was just ‘playing/exploring’ and didn’t really lose anything 🙂

    Also:

    -No instert effect track
    -No play back running and,
-Midi keyboard connected and most likey playing at the time.

Hope this helps. I haven’t had the problem again but I haven’t been trying to replicate it either.

I think this might be real.

Last night I was using Nucleum, pretty much just creating a new preset, clicked on the save button and BOOMF! ….desktop.

Never seen it before, ever. Podium 1.98, Nucleum 0.93.

    Hi Frits,

    Yet more features!

I was working my way through rinxai’s bank today for the first time (brilliant! ..alot of work went into that I’m sure 🙂 ) when I noticed two things:

    1. There doesn’t seem to be anyway to get back to the default bank and,
    2. The preset list in the Inspector doesn’t reflect the program names for the new bank.

This is probably just a beta-thing but I thought I’d raise it.

I preferred the old dial design (felt a bit more intuitive to be able to have a knob to grab onto rather than just the edge of a dial) but opinions are a dime a dozen and I’d be hard pressed to provide a concrete argument for one over the other. Besides, there are way more important things afoot. 🙂

Sorry Per. Now I feel like a total heel. 🙄

The dials as they are now are very similar to the traditional Podium Level and Pan dials which I and others always quite liked.

My bad …right, back to business. 🙂

Frits, Thanks for the UI change! Same feel, better look IMO.

    @Podianer wrote:

I get cpu spikes and audio dropouts each time I change the preset.

Yes, the spikes are still there in 0.91 but only if you use the arrows on the UI. I find that it doesn’t spike though when loading presets from the Track Inspector, with Auto-assign preset on. 😕

No crashes this time though. even after some exhaustive preset browsing. 😀

I really would encourage you Frits, to put Nucleum in the Podium installer when it’s done. Seems to be a very versatile plugin you put together here.

    +1
