Ok I will message you the YouTube link.
Sorry if it’s to fuzzy, I tried my best.
Thanks for the reply Frits.
However I do have both Punch In and Out enabled. However it seems Punch In does not work. 🙁 I really did a lot of various tests to see what I could have been doing wrong, and did “Render within Punch Range” or just “Alt+B” and still yet the punch render still ignores “when to start”[Punch In] but doesn’t ignore when to stop. [Punch Out] If you believe you need a video I can arrange one for you to show you that I am doing the right thing, just for some reason Punch In doesn’t work but Punch out does… 🙁
Just for a bit of info I am using Podium 2.40. I hope this helps.
Hmmm Frits did post, sorry if I didn’t see that. Just lending a hand I suppose until he responded.
I will stay out of this thread then. Hope you find a solution to your problem Michi.
Not to start a comment war, but I highly doubt it’s Podium using a immense amount of CPU.
-When Podium is not in use of anything relating to software[just on idle or standby] isn’t your CPU at 0%, correct?[as far as Podium’s usage meter]
-But when you “use something” it cranks the CPU to this “dangerous level”, correct?
Then Podium[in my opinion] is ruled out of the cause of what is causing your CPU to clock so high.
And if there is nothing else running and your running Podium by itself and there is no CPU spike then of course it’s your plugins/hardware that you are telling Podium to use that cranks up the usage so high. Not Podium.
Try fully closing Podium then opening the project alone and apply your plugins/hardware.
But if Frits tells otherwise then I stand corrected. Until then I believe it’s not Podium, but in fact your hardware/software that you use “in” Podium.
Here are some things I would look at/consider
-Is ASIO4ALL running and is the settings in ASIO4ALL doing what I set them to?
-Is there any outside programs running[like Skype which uses a tremendous amount of RAM]?
-Did you have any previous Podium projects running?[For example when I want to open another project in Podium, I save, then double click the .pod project file in the “Browser” tab in Podium, because otherwise, I highly believe Podium still saves process of the past project. Also I think it connects to the feature of “Link Project windows”.]
-Any VST’s running that may cause a spike in CPU performance?[Such as SynthEdit plugins and such]
If anyone else has anything to add, or to correct me on then by all means do so. I am not 100% sure these suggestions on what to check could help but it could be a good way to start.
Druid
I think if I get this job[if I’m lucky enough] I will get for starters 4GB on my Windows XP 32bit Professional System, and then eventually get Win7 64bit because I lam quite fond of Win7. But of course I would need to save money, which I am good at. But life still rolls on with bills and such, so I am sure I can find a way.
Once I buy the RAM I WILL buy the full version of Podium. It’s been bugging me to buy it,[subconsciously] and I think it’s worth it.
I have another concern but I will post another topic.
Congratulations kxuser on winning. I hope you use the prize to it’s fullest extent.
I figured I wouldn’t win anyway, but eh, not like I have won anything in my entire life so, meh.
Well, I have to get back to my album work.
Hey Druid,
Well I ran a bit of some tests on my own, and I was wrong and right about some things, I’ll just list them, hopefully it makes a bit more sense…
-I still have Podium Free on my old PC single core rig, but I also have 4GB of RAM[?], or 3GB on it, so I loaded and old remix I did that used a lot of Synths and Native Instrument plugins.[Note: The more I use N.I. plugins, I think the more “possessive” they become..*laughs*]
-After I loaded the project, I then proceeded to use every Kontakt Library and Kore Player Preset that spikes up CPU and RAM usage.
-After messing around a bit, I came to the quick conclusion that it just may save more on CPU usage than RAM.[although RAM usage is still used less] Sadly my new PC has 2GB of RAM and my old one has 3GB or 4. Now I could be wrong entirely, but so far whenever I click bypass on plugins it greatly decreases CPU usage and helps my workflow. RAM usage however spikes “sometimes” if the project has been stationary for a while. I suppose it’s a thing with like starting up a car in the winter, you know, Podium needs to warm up and load all of the now “.wav” files so it can run them all smoothly.
And another great discovery I found out that surprised me.
If you have a .MP3 file and you have it saved in, let’s say, “My Documents”. Ok your done with your mix and you export it to a sound file and then you select an already .MP3 file. It says the “overwrite” prompt warning, of course let’s say you click, “Yes”.
It “literally” overwrites the old .MP3 with a “NEW”[?] .MP3??? In other words did Podium render a new .MP3, or did Windows somehow do it? It doesn’t also matter how big the file was[of course] just that if you click the file and overwrite it, it renders a new .MP3. I think that was pretty good and cool. But of course I know everyone just wants the .MP3 export but I thought that would be a good discovery to mention. As long as the file has the same name and .MP3 format, you can overwrite it, and it still be a .MP3.
Well off to remixing this song…or mixing my own material.
I made a self promise to all the Podium users to keep only my concerns on the Support forum, it seems you didn’t read everyone’s comments here.
About Reaper: Using it after 30 days and still clicking “Still Evaluating” isn’t stealing, however if you use at during or after 30 days and produce a album in it, and then SELL your album at a cost, you are in all means illegally commercializing your material made in a “evaluation” version of the program. You can use it as long as you like, just anything you make IN it you better not “sell”, otherwise, yes, your are doing an illegal act against Cockos.
I used REAPER for 31 days to see the maximum potential of the program, on the 31 day I ported all of my song into MIDI files. That’s it.
If you see my “story” as a sob story then that is your opinion.
There is no ignore button on this forum however, if you read the whole topic, and not skimmed through, [which does lead me to believe you did]you would have read that I will cease this topic privately message Frits with my concerns and also stay my concerns on the Support forum in case I needed “support” on a problem for when I do use Podium. Plus if you really wanted to ignore this topic or me, you could have not posted at all. Simple.
Me, Zynewave[Frits], and Druid[who I can honestly say he understood me a bit more], talked via private message on the forum here and finally came to a understanding or “even leveling” of understandment.[It was mostly between me and Druid, not to say he was completely on my side but he understood my points]
So.
To any further commenters or new people to Podium who have found this topic I am here to remind you on this somewhat OLD post:
THIS DISCUSSION AND TOPIC HAS BEEN RESOLVED AND HAS NOW CEASED. THANK YOU FOR READING THIS IF YOU HAVE.
To Frits:
If you deem this topic may grow[or has grown] overboard you may remove it at your own decision.
Sorry Zynewave I’ve already figured it out. But thank you for the feedback. I noticed the bounce option was “between” the zReverb Plugin and the Kontakt plugin, so in other words it only bounced the Kontakt plugin. So what I did was just move the bounce option up top and rebounced and it worked fine.
Also not to prove your “wrong” but-
After you’ve bounced a track Podium Free it still uses the active plugin and effects. It does “not” automatically bypass or “mute” any processes from the plugin “unless” you “bypass” the plugin after rendering[or bouncing] the track. This saves a lot of RAM and CPU usage and I discovered this using REAPER by accident.
Most of my projects consist of more than 20 or 30 tracks within each project. And if you do not bypass effects and plugins after rendering them, then the use of the non-bypassed plugin and effects are still being used, not just the “.wav or bounced” file. And KORE FX uses a lot of RAM and CPU, and after I’ve bounced a track and have not bypassed KORE and KORE FX the usage of the CPU and RAM is still clocked “up”.[nearly “machinegunning” at 90-100%] However if I bypass these plugins/effects the CPU is “greatly” decreased in usage and of course only uses the created bounced file.[which seems to nearly take “any” CPU/RAM]
For example my recently created song “Hope”. If not bypassed “with” bounced tracks uses almost 100% of my CPU. If I bypass all tracks that have been bounced it only uses[so far] a max of 2% in the CPU/RAM indicator. And rarely redlines.
Now if there is a option to only play bounced files, and then the tracks “with” bounced files are automatically “fully bypassed”, then I would not mind doing that. But so far I haven’t dabbed in the Preferences too much to see if there is a option of such.[maybe i overlooked it]
Thank you for your time and explanation Zynewave. Sorry if I did not post sooner explaining I have figured my issue out.[after figuring it out, I immediately started working on the project non-stop.] And still congratulations on the “z” plugins, because they are without a doubt, very impressive plugins, with useful features and presets. I am happy to have them in Podium’s possession.
500
All I will say is still thanks for understanding. You may not have agreed with all my points, but eventually you understood.
If you wish to know about my musical content check out the sites below, because the only time I’m posting on this forum is if I have a problem with the program, so I will only post in the Support forum, wait for a reply, thank whoever gave me one, and go about my day. That’s all.
I tend to think it will keep peace around here between me and everyone else.
Gabriel, until Frits[A.K.A. Zynewave] can include the feature of .MP3 exporting[among other formats] I suggest you use Audacity and download the .LAME encoder for Audacity and other plugin extensions for Audacity to suit your encoding. Podium only does .WAV so export it to that then drag and drop into Audacity and then re-export in Audacity to the format you wish to do it in. It’s what I do. Hope that helps.
I wasn’t going to write anything because, well, I knew it would be taken the wrong way, twisted, and then make me look like the “bad guy”. I’m so used to seeing that in forums that, that is why it took me massive courage to finally join one, the ONLY one, I have ever joined, which is this one.
Although I feel like the trend is still here. So this is my “only and last forum” I will ever join.
I see your points, but I was only stating that I knew how Zynewave felt. I’ve been doing music for 3 years straight now and every time I get someone to help me it “falls though”. I’m frankly getting sick and tired of it, so I thought “f it”, go on it “alone”. But I found out no matter what you do in life you always need someones help. Hence the reason I asked Frits.
Now I take the time from my album creation and my remix creation[yes I’m creating another remix for “Blue Stahli-Metamorphosis”] to come here and type what’s on my mind. I see it as time in some ways, wasted, because I could take that valuable time and go create more music with it.
But when I come here I’m only reminded that I should have kept my mouth[or opinions] shut and only put when I have a problem with Podium and that’s it. Don’t suggest features, don’t ask Frits if he needs dev help, just post my problems and wait for answers and go about my day. Basically stay on the support forum.
Now back to topic[sorry]
Frits may have a small hope of maybe giving you something to help you at a cost, or for free as in tips. Maybe he can link you some YouTube tutorial videos that may have helped him in his production of Podium. The source code however I think he is going to keep to himself until he feels it’s necessary or “safe” to let others he can trust have it. I’ve wanted to help Frits also or at least question his motives[in a positve manner] of why doesn’t he accept help, but of course everyone here active on the forums knows how that got drawn out.
I won’t respond to your jokes, or anything someone has said to me, back, because I feel this forum may live up to the “forum legend”. The only forum format I actually type on and people actually understand what I mean is FiXTRemix. Here, it’s a completely different story. I waited for a reason so that others may have felt “they’ve won the dispute”, where I feel like “meh, I got my point across no need in continuing something otherwise it will escalate to something I never intended it to escalate to”.
But-
That’s what forums are for right? Getting your topic/point across and getting feedback on it, no? I could be wrong.
Anyway Chase best of luck to you with your future plans and potential deals with Frits. Maybe it’s something he may look into more when he has time but I believe for now he just wants what he asks from us and no more, as of now.
Well my rant is over. This is the last time I will post something outside the “support” forum channel. If I ruined this topic then Frits I would like you to erase whatever I put, and those comments related/linked to them. Maybe my actions will bring peace to this forum, maybe not. Who knows.
Thanks for understanding finally Chase, and good luck.
Ok. I’ll say this for the last time and I hope someone with common sense who doesn’t “live” on the internet finally lets this sink IN.
“I say whatever is on my mind about any issue I’m dealing with. There is no “tone” on the internet because there is no “AUDIO”, I repeat, there. is. no. audio. on the internet, so how would ANYONE on God’s big beautiful blue marble planet KNOW what I am saying in “tone” if there is no AUDIO coming from my “words”?”
I don’t sugar coat anything, I don’t use excessive exclamation points, and I don’t do smiley faces, [and all that other stuff]because I’ve come to the conclusion that, that, is a time waster. I figure just type out what I feel is best without purely offending anyone but still leave criticism on someone’s work. Maybe you all are used to people sugar coating things and smiling with teeth gritted underneath their smile, but I’m a honest person and honesty is a lot better than “smiling teeth gritters”
I started out a remixer and even I learned whether it’s negative feedback or positive feedback USE IT to help you grow. If you got a bunch of people who are “kissing butt” and not honest how is that going to help ANYONE? Long story short, it won’t. I say what I don’t like about Podium, and Frit’s direction on it, but I STILL state that this is HIS PROGRAM, HIS life’s work, and HIS life. he can do whatever he wants with it but everyone gets criticized for something. No human in the world is “uncriticizable”.
So maybe deep down you all don’t like the way I lay my criticism down. Well if Frits doesn’t think it’s appropriate then he can remove my posts.[since I can’t, and if I could, at the request of him, I would remove them] Maybe you all don’t like me at all, I really don’t give one damn. I wasn’t born to be liked, I was born to live my life the way I wanted it to be lived. If you think my criticism is “bad toned” maybe you should ask yourself do you even like “opposing criticism” at all.
And as far as “ruining your business offer Chase”, sorry if I did that, but the man has made his point clear. 20 years of work=lots of moneys worth. He doesn’t want anyone’s help he would rather tackle Podium solo. He doesn’t have time to teach because he leads a busy life.He has time for tips, ideas, bug reports,[maybe]criticism, helping those with complex problems, outside projects and updates and features whenever he has time.
Now you all can take this as a “Man, he’s just some pissed off kid trying to make Zynewave do stuff”
or-
You can take it as it is.
