You got a distinctive voice. I’m glad it was included in the track, even if it was vocoded ๐
Great glitchy edits too!

I think I’ll do an “only Aalto” track, submit to both Podium and Aalto Soundcloud groups…two birds, one stone!
By all means do so, 4mica ๐
My tracks look very lonely on the page at the moment ๐ฅ
Thanks for pointing the way to Aalto’s SoundCloud Page. The modulations do sound heavy, asymmetrical and smooth. And now I have more artists to check out ๐
Sytrus is a synth I love for exponential internal turmoil and bright harmonics. You can draw waveshapes freehand!
Right now there are 11 albums I wish to purchase. Once my wallet recovers from those I’ll consider adding Aalto to my VST folder.
Thanks for checking out the group, 4mica ๐
I figured as every other DAW has a SoundCloud group we should plant a flag too. I really hope the tracklist grows and showcases the talents of Podium users.
Please add some of your music, even if it’s only 30 seconds long or a ‘Work In Progress’ – others will offer advice and observation.

Have you tried Aalto?
I visited the website for Aalto and failed to find audio demos of it’s sound. I do like layering modulations over signals but find built in arpeggiators a little daunting (unless factory presets deliver what I’m after).

Something tells me you’d like it…audio alchemy supreme.
What a coincidence you used the word ‘alchemy’, as the track does include Camel Audio’s sampler – Alchemy

Thank you very much 4mica O:)
Have a safe and rejuvenating vacation Frits 8)

โฆ all the guitar parts were recorded using the same modern Ibanez guitar, fed almost directly into my sound card then I used a VSTi called FreeAmp to make the otherwise clean raw guitar sound more like a 50s guitar with a tube amp.
That answers my question ๐
Convincing emulation!

p.s. What module did you use to make the ‘Song List’ on your blog
@pbattersby wrote:
Nothing fancy. It’s provided by Blogger and it’s called “Labels”. It just displays a list of all the labels used to tag the blog posts. I simply tag each song’s blog post with it’s own name preceded by a “-” so that all the song titles appear first in the alphabetical list followed by any other labels.
Thanks ๐
@pbattersby wrote:
Before the song list gets too much longer, I’ll have to write my own module to query blogger for the list of songs/blog posts and replace the song list with a dropdown list.
Would you mind describing this process when you do it too?
A medley whose parts flow seamlessly ๐ I’m under the impression you admire the children of Fender’s Stratocaster ๐
๐ก I’m curious to hear the 4 songs layered simultaneously; with some tasteful pruning by you. Perhaps the bass line from one, rhythm from another etc.
p.s. What module did you use to make the ‘Song List’ on your blog โ
Makes me want a system upgrade.
You must be relieved, Frits, to have this milestone pass. ๐
I, like Adimatis, feel at home using Podium. For me its workflow has a directness and intimacy. Qualities which appear in this forum from time to time. Much like a familyโฆ dare I say ๐ณ
I believe we are all fans of Frits’ work and sure he accounts for all requests made as Podium matures. While he is agile and responsive it may have raised a dilemma.

โฆ between work for someone for money and work for me for pleasure i prefer the second option :).
Egoadsr has a realistic proposition. Perhaps Frits is like a new mother who receives so much advice he is left without the sense of being a parent?!
After some sweeping innovations to hit Podium recently I believe it’s fair to let it settle and consolidate. At that point there could be a marketing push or mobile app developed to net more customers and fund costly features. (I voted yes to the poll question)
A scenario which scares me is that Frits gets ambitious and repackages Podium, integrates all the bells ‘n’ whistles then sells for $$$ (big bucks). He could call it ‘Rostrum’ 8-[
hello michi_mak,
Alt+Enter with a track selected will invoke its properties dialog. There you will find a field to randomise note velocity by percentage.
Unfortunately this function isn’t available through the sequence event properties dialog. No doubt these are in the pipeline.

When saving a project, Podium to save a folder , (not only the .pod file) in which it will copy all the waves included in the project, for an example in a “Samples” sub-folder by default, as well as arrangements, and the project file itself, bounces and so on. So every time a sample is imported to the project, it will be copied there.
I prefer Podium references a sample location to minimise consumption of disk space.
It is also a system which ensures project files aren’t corrupted due to an orphaned sample (the same applies with plugins) ๐

Would be good to have a few choices eh?โฆ
I like what the Shortcircuit sampler did with path variablesโฆ
โฆuser configurable path variables. If a part of the path matches one of the path variables, that part is replaced with the matching variable name. When the sample is loaded the next time, the path variable is replaced with the corresponding path again, giving the correct filename to the filesystem.
This adaptive approach would aid in repairing broken references.
That said, I have made the mistake of editing a referenced sample outside of Podium. This left the project playing the processed version.
I understand your frustration CymaticCreation when you wish to archive or transport your project.
@bbreakz wrote:
an easy way to pull everything into the project folder would make things so much easier, and save time…
I’d like a ‘Copy Arrangement Samples‘ right-click menu entry on an arrangement object in the project start page. Currently you can double-click a sample object, in the project start page, to open the master audio editor then save the sample within the project directory (or anywhere else).
@ kyran
Neat workaround.
Up until now I’ve been using the clipboard or effect chain templates.
Great suggestion Lion!
I often wish there were inverted links between a track’s fader and a send’s return level. This would then act as a dry/wet mix control.
That said, I prefer having two automation clips plainly visible on tracks rather than an unseen link working in the background.
What a conundrum!
