Very interesting! I didn’t know any of that, although now I think – well, of course! 😉
Very nice work!

Beat you then I’m 53. 😉
Thanks for the tip. I bought it and the sound is great!

This is the most civil forum that I visit on the internet. And it has the least number of fanboys on the internet, IMO.
I’m mostly a lurker here, but I strongly agree with UncleAge in the above. Moreover, I think it would be hard to find any product forum where the developer is so engaged and responding as this one.
The usual strife and flames found elsewhere is absent here.

OK, thanks.

What’s the procedure for safely trying out Betas? The download is just a executable, should it be run from the Zynewave folder?

Do you feel this simplification is a step in the wrong direction? Other users care to comment?
I think it’s a step in the right direction. OK, some flexibility is lost, but the chance for confusion is radically reduced.
I would like to say that I understand that an overall re-work of project management is a huge undertaking. We can’t expect that without putting a hold on development in other areas. You have made a lot of great improvements to other parts of Podium in recent time and should continue with your plans.
Small changes like this, easy to implement but important to improve project management is welcome, and we users should perhaps set our brains to find more solutions like that.

Settings for layout and appearance (like with colour) like that should be storable somewhere and easy to return to
I think you can in the “Save complete setup…” and “Load setup…” in the Setup menu.
But I agree perhaps the warning message should be “Do you want to save your current setup?”.
I’m not sure exactly what is saved in the Setup file. I think it is only editor profiles and colors, not MIDI and Audio setup. I looked in the Wiki, under Setup files, but there was no information there, as far as I could see.

I have no major problem with the hierarchy – it’s the project management that bugs the hell out of me.
I have to agree with the above.
On the subject of the hierarchic UI, I think your voting alternatives are perhaps not formulated in an optimal way. Who wouldn’t want the UI revised and simplified, as in alternative 1?
But that should in my opinion be done exactly as the developer himself says in your quote, which I’ll repeat:
“I think the main problem as expressed in this topic, is that of the visual presentation in the mixer. The hierarchic engine is a very flexible construction. I frequently see user requests in the Tracktion, eXT and Reaper forums, where users are requesting possibilities of organizing tracks into folders, folders in folders, folder freeze, etc. All this is possible in Podium. It is a matter of tuning the Podium UI so that it allows simpler manipulation of the track organization.”

Still struggling with this approach to saving iterations. Just had a nice arrangement and saved it as a new project (since there is no “save as” for arrangements) but now I can’t find it – it’s just gone 🙁 The logic of this system eludes me – it all feels so back to front
As an “not-so-frequent” user of Podium I can relate to this. I have lost the content of a whole project which I saved under a new name, after a re-work. The project is there, there is just no content. I have no idea what I did.
