I downloaded the Flux Stereo Tool v1.3.0.10:
http://www.fluxhome.com/
I could not get it to crash. The editor opens up fine, and all controls seem to be working ok.
Are you using the latest version 1.3.0.10? Does the plugin work in other hosts on your machine?
The crash is most likely related to the initialization of MIDI or audio interfaces. Do you have any MIDI interfaces enabled?
Try to deselect either your MIDI or audio interface in the interfaces dialog, and check if Podium will start up repeatedly without crashing.

Here’s a track done using Nucleum and Podium
Very nice!
I’ve created a “Nucleum Music” topic in this forum. I would appreciate if you could write a copy of your post in that topic.
@H-man: I would also appreciate if you could add a post about the demo you posted earlier in this topic.
Suggestion:
Add markers at the start of each section you want to loop. If the loop should stop before the next marker, set a marker at the end of the loop too.
Then you can use the Alt+L shortcut to set the loop between markers. See the help popup for the loop range field in the transport toolbar.
Depending on whether you use the “link edit cursor to play cursor” option, you can use Q or W to step the edit cursor between the markers, and then Alt+L to quickly set new loop ranges.

1.Will all the FX and Vsti preset and bank settings e.t.c also be reassigned to any arrangement after a merge?
Local bank assignments on tracks will stay intact. But your question made me realize that I need to check the device definition in the imported project for any library presets, and move these into the current project before deleting the redundant device objects in the imported project.
2. So I create my new template with my new VST plugin folder layout and additional new plugs with some older ones now removed. I also have changed my hardware so the devices in the new template reflect that.
Will the new merge feature also ‘refresh’ the hardware device mappings list as well by removing /replacing the older hardware device mappings in the same way it will do for VST’s? I just have to be 100% sure 🙂
That’s the goal.

Hi Frits,
The only way that I have found to import an arrangement from a project to another one is :
– delete all the other arrangements in the first project, with taking care that all the audio files are in the arrangement folder (if no, all the audio files are lost when importing, nevertheless they are exactly in the same relative path in the other project)
– import the pod file in the other projectThe problem is that all the devices of the first project are imported also in the second one.
If I delete this new Device folder, all the inserted mappings disappear on the imported arrangement.
Since I use this method between different versions of the same project, and since they share exactly the same audio files and the same devices list, it makes doubles and becomes very confusing if I do this several times.Would you consider to add an option to save and import only an arrangement instead of a complete project ?
Or to allow like in other hosts to copy / paste from a project to another one, or from two opened instances of Podium ?Thanks.
I’m currently implementing a “Merge Project” command just below the “Open Project” command in the project menu. I think this will solve the problem you describe.
The merge command will import the project into the current project and search the current project for mappings that match those in the imported project. If matches are found Podium will delete the device mappings in the imported project and replace the assignments on the tracks with the matched mappings in the current project. If there are any device mappings in the imported project that is not matched in the current project, these objects will be added to the end of the device list. Thus you won’t end up with two device folders.
The merge project command can also be useful if you e.g. have created a new project template with a different plugin layout, and you want that layout propagated to older projects. You could simply create a new project with this template and then merge it with the older project. The result is a project where all arrangements are reassigned with the objects in the template.

I may not have understood your description fully, but would it not be simpler to open the sound editor, set a segment selection from the start to the zero-crossing point, and then use the “Silence” edit menu command?

If I have understood, the plugins didn’t show because the arrangement was empty ?
Perhaps could you change it so that they are imported in all cases, like audio files, to avoid confusion ?
I think the plugin is imported in both your cases. It’s just that the plugin is placed in the project root folder, i.e. outside the normal “Devices” folder, so unless it is imported into an empty project you won’t notice the plugin in the Devices list panel. That’s why I don’t recommend import of plugins by drag/drop. Later on I may change this drag/drop behaviour so that plugins are always imported into the Devices folder.
Until the Files List will have a preview function, I prefer to drag audio files from Windows folders (which keeps the French alphabetical order)
The files list already have a preview function. Maybe you refer to the request where you’d like to set a preview volume in the list panel?
I have a shortcut to this topic, so I’ll look at it eventually.
I have a shortcut to this topic on my list, so I’ll look at it when it fits into my schedule.

Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean 😳
I do the same on the two computers, I drag a dll file on the Devices list and the plugins don’t appear on one of the computers.
I’m guessing you are starting with an empty project on one of the computers?
Of course, I can import the file, but I just test this new feature and I try to understand…
What is “an object list” ? Is this a “folder” in the Devices list ? If yes, there is none of the plugins that I have dragged on the Browser in them.
Object list is the left panel in the list window (Ctrl+L). It will show you more details than the devices list on the start page.
The possibility to drag plugin dll files onto the Podium browser was made long before the project start page was introduced. Dragging plugin files onto the window is no longer a recommended way to import plugins.
In previous releases you have been able to drag files onto the project start page, except on the two list boxes (due to a technical limitation). In this release I just made a small adjustment to the list boxes so that you can actually drop e.g. a sound file on the listbox. This is not really a new feature. Maybe I should have called it a bug-fix instead to avoid this confusion.
@acousmod wrote:
Yes, I have understood and it works well on my second computer.
On the first one, I have uninstalled Podium and reinstall it, audio files are well imported when I drag & drop but not the plugins.
When dragging plugins onto the browser window, Podium will import the plugins in the folder of the currently displayed browser object. If you open an object list you’ll probably find the plugins you dropped in the main project folder, which is not ideal. You should use the import menus instead of drag and drop.
@acousmod wrote:
Files can be dropped onto the entire project start page area. Previously it was not possible to drop files on the sequences and devices lists.
Very usefull.
You say “devices lists”. Does it mean that it must work also for plugins files ?
I have tried and Podium seems to accept the dll files to be drag on the Devices and show some activity during a few seconds but nothing appears in the list.
Anyway, it would be nice feature.
There is no change in the file import functionality. In previous releases you could not drag and drop a file over the two list boxes at all. The cursor would show a “forbidden” icon, and nothing happened when you dropped. Now you can drag for example a sound file over the “arrangements & sounds” listbox, and it will be imported properly.
I’ve just released Podium 1.99. It is still compiled with VS6, so Windows compatibility is unchanged.
I’ve used the new VS2008 tool to develop the new 1.99 features and for debugging. Only the final release compilation was done on VS6, followed by some testing. I think I’ll continue with this procedure for the near future. I’m slowly getting used to the new VS2008 features, and so far I’m happy with the tool. There are a lot of things that have made it more pleasant to work on the Podium development.
