OK !
Me too I don’t see any dependence between tempo/speed automation and pitch/time stretching. Of course, the first one can be done without the second one.
I know also that Elastic will certainly never be available in Podium due to its huge cost. Which for me is not a problem, because I am sure that when Frits will work again on a custom timestretching algo it will be good enough for me (and it would be always possible to use Reaper in other cases…).
I was just saying that I agree that tempo/pitch/speed automation will be very nice to have in Podium.
Considering the pitch/speed compensation with a timestretching algo, yes, it is astonishing in Reaper, not for music fine corrections of course, but as a sound design feature it is rather extraordinary.
It is always interesting to be inspired by what others do when it is good.
You know, there is not only conventional musical styles, some are very happy to play with sound, in every manner that is possible…
If don’t like time/pitch/speed variations, just don’t use them 😉
You can take a look at how this is implemented in Reaper : an automation envelope on the Master track, which can be recorded in realtime, and with optional pitch/time compensation with Elastic time-stretching algos or internal pitch plugin…
I hope that when Frits will work again on the promizing timestretching/speed feature he will also consider this.
I realised that newer version VSTs, just ’cause I either relocate the file in the VST device or just replace the existing file, may have altered innards that are not reimported into Podium
This is a major problem for me.
I don’t know if we speak about the same thing, but I have asked some years ago a “rescan mapping” or “rebuild mapping” of plugins or something like this.
In every host, when there is an update in a plugin that has changed the internal parameters names or order for example, the host says “some parameters could not be load”. But it loads the plugin and updates what exists.
The only risk is that some automations perhaps goes wrong or are linked to another parameter.
But it is your problem to correct it.
On the other hand, Podium simply ignores the changes, the old mapping remains, even if it doesn’t work anymore, and new parameters for example are not available.
The only way we have is to delete the plugin and reimport it. Of course, all the settings and automations are completely lost, and we have to insert it manually in all tracks were the previous version was.
I agree that in normal circumstancies it must not be a problem, and if the update is important editors generally give an independant plugin version.
It is a big problem for me because I have to modify my plugins very often, and when this occurs I lost everything…
Happily, I limit the use of plugins in Podium and do all the hard work in other hosts, but it is something that could be certainly improved.
Perhaps I am wrong and is there now a way for updating the parameters without having to delete the plugins ?
Just in the case of you wonder how to implement it, perhaps this can help :
Yes, it seems to be a very good solution !
Thank you very much for all of you have done, are doing, and will do 😛
Nice…
Thanks Frits !
The files list already have a preview function. Maybe you refer to the request where you’d like to set a preview volume in the list panel?
Yes, of course, volume, play buttons, position slider and choice of outputs.
That’s why I don’t recommend import of plugins by drag/drop. Later on I may change this drag/drop behaviour so that plugins are always imported into the Devices folder.
OK 🙂

I’m sorry to insist, I know that you cannot respond to all requests !, but I have spent two weeks working in Reaper : I had forgotten how it can be efficient and pleasant to do simple audio editing…
Snapping on objects edges and play position is a very basic feature, hope that 2.0 version will have it.
Best regards.
Hello ?
Pity !
OK, thanks for your explainations and your patience.
This is not really a new feature. Maybe I should have called it a bug-fix instead to avoid this confusion.
Yes, for me, “Devices list” on the Start page area was the Devices “list” area…
I thought that dragging on the Start page areas was a new way of importing audio files and plugins.
I never use the Object list because, for me, it makes a double of the Browser window and the Inspector.
If I have understood, the plugins didn’t show because the arrangement was empty ?
Perhaps could you change it so that they are imported in all cases, like audio files, to avoid confusion ?
Anyway, I like this way, I didn’t just realized that it was already doable !…
Until the Files List will have a preview function, I prefer to drag audio files from Windows folders (which keeps the French alphabetical order), and importing plugins like this is also very nice.
Why do you say that “Dragging plugin files onto the window is no longer a recommended way to import plugins” ?
Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean 😳
I do the same on the two computers, I drag a dll file on the Devices list and the plugins don’t appear on one of the computers.
Of course, I can import the file, but I just test this new feature and I try to understand…
What is “an object list” ? Is this a “folder” in the Devices list ? If yes, there is none of the plugins that I have dragged on the Browser in them.
