That looks pretty good to me 😀
IMO this is fine/optimal for when you’re noodling and composing. If you have to do a couple of days worth of mixing then it may be preferable to change to one of the other settings.
Also, I would recommend a ‘Help pop-up’ explaining that the settings can be altered (This is still enabled by default for first-time install right?)

I think it works ….but only just.
I do agree that the sliders look good at their current size but the text is almost illegible. I have achieved what I think are better results by reducing the luminance of the sliders (-33 for example) which definately helps with reading the values on the Glass sliders.
To work as the default, I think the slider would have to be a little bigger (15%) and non-glass. First impressions and all that. Regular Podium users would settle into their preferences pretty quickly anyway.
I have spent some time with the different configurations and find them all very workable however I would still say that I prefer having the value on the slider.

I don’t get that. Is it possible that you can grab a screenshot when it happens, and email it to me?
Perhaps try clicking on the Project tab (Project Name, not the tab that’s labled Project, don’t close the arrangement), click Project and Save all..
😕
I’ll get a Screen-shot this evening (Lunchtime here 😀 )

Hi,
Just a couple of things to report on 2.05 Beta 4:
1. The first effect track applied to a bounce track doesn’t do anything (Cannot be heard). It seems to just become the bounce track? Any other effects added to the bounce track work normally.
Also, right-click to delete the effect track only shows the option to “Delete Bounce Track”
2. Setting the Gain control to Rectangular readout slider has no effect until the Pan control is set to Readout slider.
3. With a dark panel background, a light coloured strip appears under the top menu buttons momentarily when you hit Save all etc.
As a final note, is it possible to have the tool-tip pop-up value for the sends appear above the track in the mixer? I kinda feel it gets in the way?
And …as a final note to my final note, I must say that I really like the 2.05 changes so far and find all of the fader combo’s functional and visually appealing. But the best thing is having the choice.
Thanks Frits. 🙂
Hi Per,
Wicked. I look forward to hearing your Nucluem based track. Pls keep us informed about it’s release. Heck I’ll keep an eye on the Billboard charts!
I know what you are saying about the performance issue but I find I’m bouncing everything nowadays anyway. Blue, FilterScape, RMV …they all eat up the available CPU once there are a few effects on them.
Personally I have learned to live with this and I find that the Bounce track feature in Podium is fast and easy. Also it really makes you think about the sounds rather than relying on endless tweaking.
Just my opinion …if you could have everything real-time and dynamic you would right 🙂
I’m crazy busy right now with my day job but I’m still thinking about a little collaboration to craft a (an optional) default tune using soley Nucleum and built-in effects.
Rix?, Blade? ….Frits on accoustic guitar! Anyone interested????

The smaller square / round glass sliders have a very wide hitpoint which makes them *very* easy to use. Thanks. That appears to be the case for all of the smaller sliders.
Just an update on this. The “hit-box” for the sliders is anywhere on the slider track 😯 . Silly but I never knew this.
You can miss-click the handle by a country mile and still ‘grab’ it.
That said, there is a comfort element in being able to click and grab the actual element you were aiming for.
Spectrasonics might call this “psycho-tactile” 😛
@Conquistador wrote:
….The glass buttons provide a larger hitpoint for the cursor…
hahahahah 😆 So true! Especially if you’re a ‘bad shot’ like me 😳

I used this setting…
…to get a very nice change in colour as I move the slider. Maybe a similar default setting would make this particular feature stand out much more. This setting also works very well with *any* kind of dial in Podium, Sends, zReverb, zPeq e.t.c please try it.
It provides a nice visual indicator for lower, mid or high values.
Nice tip CQSD 💡 8) 💡

Maybe it is a good idea to use the same styling for all UI elements, for example round faders with round send/pan etc. Although I like the tidiness of the first example how about a round fader between the meter channels?
I agree. Currently with Beta 2 choosing Slider knob visual style from the preferences menu gives you round(-ish) knobs for gain and pan on the mixer strips and it does look pretty cool.[/quote]
Hi Frits, Pods,
A couple of things….
1. The coloured rectangles that indicate Record, Bypass, Editor open etc. are different sizes on the Group Panel compared to input assignments.
Try bypassing midi in and you’ll see what I mean.
2. Can the vertial meters on the Track Headers have assignable colour notches for the markers. A dark panel background results in not being able to see them.
3. I like the middle one (of course 😛 ).
BTW, where would the value for the sends appear for the top one (Option one)?

Added “slider knob visual style” combobox to the preferences dialog. Choices cover combinations of glass/solid, rectangular/round and with/without value readouts on the knob.
It’s fantastic! The Track headers look great.
@Zynewave wrote:
Another change is that the groove for the slider is filled with the parameter graduation colors (similar to the dial fills).
Again, looks great. Is this graphical feature going to be incorporated into the mixers strips as well?

@acousmod wrote:
And one question : how do we drag a plugin from one track to another one now ?
Same way as you’ve always done, unless you refer to the old expanded mode track header?
Confirmed acousmod. The clipboard still works but the ability to drag-and-drop instruments/effects has disappeared.
I would expect that the ‘stub’ to the left of the instrument/effect could still be used for dragging-and-dropping.
I should say that despite my earlier post, I’m not really missing the values on the fader handles (on the Trak Headers) as much as I thought I would. 🙄
Pretty happy for the mixer to still keep this feature tho. 🙂
Thanks for the tip!
Shows it’s age a bit but there are alot of samples inlcuded.
Good find 😀
lol
Well …you did ask.
Thanks for considering us all 😀
@Zynewave wrote:
The track header meters now show RMS meters similar to the mixer. The meters can be configured as either horizontal or vertical meters. I’m now using the vertical mode as default.
Cool. Useful metering on each track header. Looks pretty good too IMO.
@Zynewave wrote:
Just clicking the plugin name will open/close the editor instead of showing the track menu as previously.
Yep. Love this feature. Apply it everywhere 😀
@Zynewave wrote:
I was never happy with the old track header pan/gain faders. They were a bit “heavy”, and seen from a distance the track headers would blur together. The new fader style I’m trying here stands out better, and they have the glass-look also used for the mixer faders.
Agreed. I really like the glass handles on the mixer faders, especially the effect where it appears that the handle is just magnifying the scale underneath as it passes over it.
I would assert that all faders should be the same shape, that way when the user sees that control, they immediately know what to do. Adds to the intuitiveness of the UI.
For the record I quite like CQSD’s glass rectangular(-ish) fader handles. Using the above principle ….buttons are always round, sliders are always rectangular(-ish. They are trapezoids right?).
@Zynewave wrote:
You know, I think I agree that the glass look makes the faders appear a bit too alien from the other elements in the tracks region.
Nah …they look good! It’d be nice if they refracted the track colour as well.
@Zynewave wrote:
Another problem with the old fader style is that the visual design is not suited to be used for send faders. It’s either these new faders or back to the old faders with no fader option for the sends.
So drastic! Could the fader handles be widened a little to allow room for the data on the handle. Like some of the others I always thought this was one of the many defining features of the Podium UI. I get it that this effectively moves the values back and forth but I would put it to you that 99% of the time you would be looking at the value on the handle because you are about to change it, and it is more convenient to have the value on the handle for that operation.
I would even suffer a smaller font on the handle if necessary. 😉
@Zynewave wrote:
From the above posts I gather that the consensus is to show the X and B buttons by default, and only hide the E and R buttons. Note that the option to hide the R buttons does not include the R button on the track header title. It hides the plugin automation recording R buttons inside the chain panels.
Please no default hide for the R, B, X, S, M buttons on the track header Frits. Consider those of us using a control surface on a small desk, you have to move the keyboard out of the way which leaves a mouse and the MMC controls on the BCF, or MPD or whatever.
No problem 🙂
If you suspect the program as the cause of the issue you can always check the support/forums. Typically any flaws will have been reported.
Might be a good idea to try this for the drivers as well? There may be many others who have run into similar problems.
Ben
Hi there Swayzak,
I can’t fix your problem …computers are very complicated things 😉 but I might be able to get you closer to a resolution?
Your PC didn’t actually just reboot, it blue-screened (BSOD).
My guess is that you are running Windows XP? Try going to Start-Control Panel-System-Advance tab and click the ‘Settings’ button in the Start up and recovery section.
Look in the middle of that panel under ‘System failure’ for a check box that has the description ‘Automatically Restart’.
Un-tick that box and next time the crash occurs you will see the error/bug-check report.
I guess this was Bill-and-the-gang’s way of hiding the infamous Blue Screen of Death.
Anyway now that you can see the BSOD, you can have a look what it says and perhaps try and chase it down.
For example: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms789516.aspx
Please note that from my experience, the BSOD will probably report something different each time and the descriptions thus won’t really be of much use.
Given that you have just changed out the MotherBoard I would be looking at driver issues first. Make sure your PC is stable for general use and then start testing your music apps one by one.
The only other alternative is to run a trace program that logs everything your PC does but this requires some pretty in-depth knowlege.
Hope this helps, Good luck 🙂
