I agree with others comments that the “Add new effect” button should be above the existing FX, and that the new effect should be added at the top, so the behaviour in the Group Panel matches the order of the Mixer.

    Agreed.

I don’t understand the need for the Tick button. I like the information about the effect to be shown in the Inspector as soon as I click on the effect name. I don’t like having to click the “Tick” button as well. Can we add an option to hide this button and have the information automatically displayed?

    Agreed.

Never mind, I got both of those answers. But man I am fumbling around……been too long.

I think the group panel selectors (highlighted) would look better recessed as there are too many floating elements, which doesn’t look great imo, particularly when the track is colourised.

Any chance of a user option on that?

…Each vst should have an embedded editor with 8 knobs (think racks in live). Like you have “add parameter track” option in the menu now, you could also have “link parameter to knob”, which will map that vst parameter to the knob, so you have it available for instant tweaking. You could also save this mapping in the plugin template so it’s restored each time you use it.

    Cool idea – I like it 😀

Seems to have done the trick. 🙂

Firstly, this has probably been requested before but is there any chance of mouse wheel support for the sliders and faders? Maybe with a modifier key (shift) for fine control.

I’ve asked about this before (http://www.zynewave.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1964), and I think Frits was not aversed to the idea, judging from the response.

Yeah, I thought it had been raised before. Reaper has had this feature for quite awhile and it works nicely. I know Frits raised concerns about scrolling the track headers but it doesn’t take long to get the hang of positioning the mouse in the roughly the right areas. Currently, when the pointer is hovered over a fader, its background is highlighted so it seems that as long as the pointer is in that position then the mouse wheel could have fader control too.

Is there a reason why you can’t settle with resizing the track headers horizontally to widen the sliders?

It didn’t occur to me to try that, or to increase the mixer region to full screen height for that matter, which does make things a lot easier.

I certainly support your moves toward UI simplification, but in this case the option to set fader limits would be off by default and only set by the user in the individual track properties. However, as a simpler alternative, perhaps we could could have an option on a per-track basis to set the upper limit of just the volume faders to 0db, perhaps?

    Thanks for looking anyway 🙂

Added “Customize Region” submenu to the editor view menu for quick access to the properties dialogs for individual regions. Removed the region properties shortcuts from the various editor context menus.

Good move – much better to have these grouped under one menu IMO

    Thanks for the release Frits.

I also have to say, though, that it’s somewhat frustrating to make a few UI settings adjustments, and then when I want to load the default to get the new features, but want my little settings still set, I must set them each time. I’m not sure how, but I feel like there should be a way to have loading default setups not replace absolutely everything, or a way to load the newest default setup, what changed from the last one, so that other adjustments are not altered from user settings.

May be difficult to code for but …+1

Agreed – I spent half an hour last night getting it back the way I like. It’s ok though, now that I’m comfortable tinkering with the UI elements and it’s sort of fun I guess 🙂
I have to say I can’t see an obvious way of getting round the problem, as it seems inherent in the design.

That aside, another excellent update – nice one Frits. =D>

Yep, and then you wonder why podium doesnt sell. Good luck!

Well, we all have different priorities. I’m comfortable with the mixer as it is even though it probably isn’t perfected just yet. There are other things I’d like Frits to give attention to first, but I’m not going to make a big deal about it – all in good time 🙂
