Yes, it is a vsti.
What I meant with MIDI VSTi was that the plugin generates MIDI output instead of audio, and relies on another VSTi to produce the sound, correct?
That is not supported in Podium yet. MIDI output of a plugin cannot be streamed into other plugins. One of the major features that is still lacking in Podium.
ZynewaveKeymasterThe File information is duplicated at the bottom of the first column of three in the image. Is there any purpose for this?
The bottom three property panels show info for the item selected in the list above. So the bottom file info is for the currently marked recent project, while the top file info is for the currently loaded project.
The transparency looks great. What are the settings you used for that? I assume this sort of trasparency effect can already be done with the current version of Podium?
I used the existing functionality that I have used for all other transparency effects in Podium.

in regards to using multiple bitrates per arrangmenet… for instance i might use 32 bit floats as an input but want to output to a 16bit file… is it safe to just draw in the output bar as 16 bit and then use a dithering plugin (like that on elephant for instance) in the chain inbetween the 32 bit input and the 16 bit output?
Yes, you can mix sounds with any bit depth in your arrangement. Podium will do the format conversion when mixing. In your scenario, the dithering will be applied to the 32 bit float. Remember to configure the dithering plugin for 16 bit, and do not apply further processing after the dithering plugin. I.e. the gain on the master track should be set to 0 dB.
ZynewaveKeymasterHi Laraka,
Yes, send effects are supported. Try opening the ‘example – busses’ project to see how mixer send/return mappings can be used in various setups.
If you created your project with the ‘quick setup’ button, you should have by default two mixer busses, each with a set of send/return mappings. You insert the send mapping anywhere in your track hierarchy where you want to send to the bus. Then you set up the return mapping on a track feeding into the master output track, and add effect tracks into the return chain. The easiest way to do this with the mouse is by dragging an effect plugin mapping from the map list onto the start of the track header with the return mapping.
Please ask again if you feel you need more information.

ZynewaveKeymasterWhen will this be available?
I still need to add a lot of functionality to the page, so hopefully a release will be ready in the weekend.
Are the boxes scalable?
Yes.
Could you also give a screenshot with a higher resolution please?
Perhaps I’ll upload a new screenshot later in the week, with the latest changes.
ZynewaveKeymasterMay I ask why you decided to do so?
I didn’t do any coding to specifically achieve this, it was just a consequence of how the engine handles audio. I need to put in some code that skips playback on the track when recording is ongoing. If punch-in/out is used, then I think playback should only be muted within the punch range, which makes it more complicated.
ZynewaveKeymasterI put it on a group track for my vocals. When I switch monitoring off and then on, the cpu spikes to 100.
Try to isolate the one plugin instance that is causing this, by gradually removing the other tracks (backup your project!) until the problem goes away. What is feeding the plugin; other plugins or an audio input?
Podium crashed 20 times today when starting an offline bounce.
Does the crash occur before the progress dialog appears? Or how far into the render?
ZynewaveKeymasterIs it a bug or on purpose?
It is on purpose, but I have often thought that it probably would be better to mute playback if it was being recorded over anyway. I’ll put this on the list.
And another thing: is it possible to turn of monitoring in Podium?
Could you give me more details?
ZynewaveKeymasterIs this possible to implement?
Yes.
ZynewaveKeymasterThe test site is now moved to the main zynewave.com site. I’ve tried to compile a feature list on the new About page. If you find that your favorite Podium feature is missing from the list, please let me know 😉
All I need to do now is edit the forum template to the new site design.
ZynewaveKeymasterI make some changes within Jamstix perform an offline bounce and unload Jamstix.
If I do this again, the changes I just made to Jamstix are gone.
Nice find! This is a bug in Podium, and is not related to Jamstix. Plugin presets are not updated with the plugin current settings before the plugin is unloaded with the ‘unload plugin…’ track option. Will be fixed in release 1.66.
You can force the preset update by saving the project, or by toggling monitoring off/on, prior to the bounce.
ZynewaveKeymasterDoes Podium let you save/export a midi file with 15 tracks so that each track is saved to a different .mid file ?
(1.mid, 2.mid,etc?)No.
If you use the export file menu in the arrangement editor you will get a type 1 MIDI file containing all tracks in one file. If you use the export menu in one of the sequence editors you will get a type 0 MIDI file with only the MIDI data in that sequence.
ZynewaveKeymaster- Bug fixes.
ZynewaveKeymasterSo, any workaround?
Not with the current implementation.
I made the randomize timing option mainly to achieve variation with several tracks playing the same note sequence. This could be a violin section consisting of 12 solo violin tracks. If they play slow long notes then a large time randomization achieves a nice effect, whereas passages where they play short staccato notes would generally require more precise timing of the players.
I don’t think this feature is suited to add humanization to drum tracks. For that it would probably be best if the plugin where to make the intelligent decisions, like e.g. the Jamstix plugin.
