This will be nice now to use all this free space given by the new Inspector panel !
OK, I see.
But what is the use of a track with childs NOT being a Group Track ?
Don’t this option must be activated by default ?
And since the Compact mode is nice, the Expanded mode remains for me a lot easier to use thanks to dragging.
The Compact mode looks for me like a Locked mode and the Expanded a mode for edition.
So switching between the two seems to be something trhat must be easy.
PLEASE : could you add a keyboard shortcut to switch between Compact and Expanded modes ? (I suppose that it must need to you two minutes and three lines code ?).
Thanks.
I’m sorry to say that, but this color picker is for me the last straw !
I don’t deny that it looks good, but all thoses color and graphical refinements make me a little bitter…
Three years during which I can choose every color but cannot choose the keyboard shortcuts that I use all along the days, a BIG button to view the color picker whereas we can always ask for a simple fxp Patch Save button, etc…
Frankly, sometimes I dream that Podium would be ugly ! (no offence !)
Sorry, I must be tired…
If the inspector extended to below the toolbar taking just the empty space on the left of the timeline ruler etc. it would not be so bad, but I think my opinion may be in a minority on this subject.
I agree.
Of course, I have not tested yet, but I think that I would not like to have the left menus and my toolbars jumping to the right each time that I open the Inspector panel. I am used to have them keeping always the same place.
The List panel at the right edge has not this drawback.
I find this new fader very good : it integrates perfectly in the GUI (better than the glass one), doesn’t take too much space and is easy to read and to grab.
For me it is perfect.
Yes, I will try…
Podiums becomes slow after editing.
If I just play the arrangements, other problems occur (big drop outs from time to time after a few minutes playing, see http://www.zynewave.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2649&highlight=drop#2649)
But don’t bother with this now, I did’nt want to disturb you with this before 2.0.
It is nothing as important as all the nice features and enhancements we are waiting for 😉
More, I suppose that no one else seems to have this kind of problem.
I’m used to quit Podium from time to time to “refresh” it. It is not a big problem if I take care to be patient during some actions.
Indeed, it will be perhaps some help if there is a popup during switching off and saving and will prevent to do something during this risky time.
I’m assuming you mean 40 seconds for Podium to exit, not including saving the project file.
Not exit, just turning the power off of the current arrangement.
When I turn it off after a few minutes editing it takes only one or two seconds.
Short arrangements in the same project run fine.
The distortion appears only with ASIO4All with this configurations on this PC.
There is no problem with another one with different soundcards.
If I supress a sound card from ASIO4All it is also OK, but need it !
The problem for me is that I cannot use another soundcard configuration onh this computer, so I can of course continue with 1.94, but when you will add time-stretching it will be hard to satisfy with it 🙁
The only question is : why does it work well with all versions prior 1.95…
Mystery !
Do you run antivirus, spyware or firewall software on your laptop? Maybe these will probe the activities of the Podium beta since it is run as an .exe that is not a proper installed application. Just a wild guess.
No, no Internet connexion, no antivirus etc.
Do you experience the distortion even with a simple arrangement playing a single sound file without any plugins?
Yes in all cases, even with only one track and one plugin that generates a sine wave.
Is the distortion affected if you increase the ASIO buffer size?
There is no change whatever I make in Podium’s buffer size or ASIO4All settings.
The sound is always good when I run 1.94 or other programs like Bidule, Reaper or others, with the same driver settings (18 output channels with 3 USB soundcards).
When you copy/paste it is a phantom copy like when you Alt-Drag an event (arrow cursor). There is a + added to the event’s name.
You can turn a phantom copy into a real copy with the option “Clone Phantom sequence”.
When you Ctrl-Drag an event the data are duplicated (plus cursor), for an audio event it creates a new wave file. There is a number added to the events’ name.
I know it because I always need real copies of enveloppes but phantom copies of sounds and I often make the mistake with the shortcuts !
You’re right 😉
If you want to reduce the space occupied by the master track, isn’t it sufficient to minimize the master track lane?
Oh yes, it was what I was doing before you have introduced the Hide Lane feature, for the master or other tracks…
But some more pixels are always good to have 😉
I would suggest making this an option, but enabled by default. So new users won’t be irritated and users like me, who love to decide by themselves which track should be visible or not, can have their ultimate flexible way of working with tracks.
Yes, always give the choice with Preferences !
I’m actually planning on removing the possibility to hide track lanes because it can create confusion.
I don’t understand : ot xill be nore more possible to hide / a track lane ?
Why do you want to hide the master track?
I do it to keep some place since it has no use for me until the final bounce.
Complain? I think my comments are more of a balanced observation than a complaint or rant. I think if a post remains constructive and to the point, then even a constructive but critical comment is a good thing.
I know, it was ironic…
