If it took a bunch of MS engineers three years and three total rewrites before getting this right for MS word, I think I better stick to my current design! 😉
I also think that there are features in Podium that can accommodate for the different tasks and workflows that you go through in the creative process. I’m thinking about the project start page, and the possibility to create different editor profiles that you can quickly swap between with F8.
That makes sense!
I’ve not used M$ office (prefer open office) with the ribbon thingy, but that article did make for interesting study on GUI development. Perhaps that approach is better suited for programs with extensive menu options.
Frit’s approach to GUI design and implementation is imo already one of the best amongst DAWs. It does not need any major reworking. I suppose its a case of don’t fix it if it ain’t broke.
😉
Looks tighter. 🙂
+1 contextual ribbon
Thank you Sir! 😀

It will just enable streaming MIDI output from a plugin to the MIDI input of the next plugin in the chain.
yes please!

1. No fade or volume adjustment on Bounce tracks. Why not? It’s a workflow issue – often a track will require a small edit but I have to stop the flow, just to create yet another track, rename it etc to drag eveything onto it so I can apply a fade. Maybe I’m missing something, but wouldn’t it be more straight forward to make such minor edits on the Bounce track?
just a thought for a new feature – a right click on a bounce track provides an option to create a new track and transfer bounced audio in one step, with some option to name bounced audio and have the track name auto correspond.
Big Up All! 😀
excellent, thanks 🙂
Interesting! sounds very useful.
You can invert this an use it to automate volume ducking on another track or for driving compression thresholds on a second track
How does one invert the curve?
Thanks

Both the shortcut list in the guide and my reference could probably use some updating. I’ll see what I can do the next few days (can’t allow Frits to use his valuable time on things like this
Thanks, a worthwhile and appreciated effort. Is the reference a part of the wiki?
(for whom the shortest route from inspiration to masterpiece is always via the keyboard rather than the mouse
So with ya on this!

You can Shift+Click the solo/mute buttons or press Shift+S/M. This will toggle solo/mute on the track and reset solo/mute on all other tracks. So if your current track is not soloed you would press Solo and then Shift+Solo to clear all soloed tracks.
Thanks, this works well!
I wondering whether there is an updated list of all such keyboard/mouse functionalities and operations. Perhaps a stickied post comprehensively listing current keyboard shortcuts, combined mouse ops, changes, options, etc. Just a thought.

Thank you! 😀

Finally, I must say that more I work in compact mode, the more I like it. It is really a huge step forward in usability. Thank you!
True for me too. I now prefer compact mode and find no need for creating new projects in expanded mode. I was at first concerned about loosing the marvelous flexibility of the expanded mode, however usability is actually vastly improved in compact mode, IMO.
A good job and the right thing to have done in terms of development priorities. Thanks Frits.
Just missing that extra bit of color on the track headers, gotta have that back!
Sleek and lovely it is yes. Overall I wouldn’t want to change anything except the brushed metal. Having just that as an option would be enough. 🙂
I have a bunch of knobs and sliders on my keyboard and a custom made midibox, which are currently mappable to any softsynth supporting a midi learn feature. It would be excellent to similarly be able to map Podium controls to any outboard midi control number. Most other DAWs have support for generic midi mapping, as besides mackie and other ‘propriety’ protocols, there are a great many different controllers that do not rely on ‘propriety’ midi implementations.
Downloading…… mega freeware 8)
Just hoping I can squeeze this one in before being capped.. 🙁 😉
Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully its worthwhile. 🙂
